Hi, Not sure if I have found a bug with Salisbury but just now, when I tried to reverse 5L02 into Platform 3 after 5L03 had arrived there it said: "route not available". Not got the sim to hand Dave, but see what happens if you wait a moment and then try again. It may be that there is route locking that has to be released by time, but as the TC is occupied you would not be able to see that. Log in to reply |

There's a 120sec timeout for permissive entry from opposite directions.

No it wouldn't be because the route lights that would indicate that would be suppressed by the track circuit being occupied.

The weirdness as in the lack of any indication that the route is locked (eg directional arrows on the platform lines), rather than the fact that the route locking exists in the first place. But yeah, point taken, obviously the actual panel operators would be trained to know about the lock.

It's not that unusual, is it? I certainly strikes me as something that appears in other Simsigs - New Street would be an obvious one.

Hmm, I don't recall if it's present in New Street or not, I haven't played it in a little while. But point taken, maybe it's more common than my memory is telling me...

Directional arrows are there but hidden, as no sign of the shown on the panel pics, whereas they are displayed on the single line sections towards Gillingham. They have to have a time-out condition to allow permissive working from the opposite condition, the tier is set at 120s to ensure the first train is at a stand before the second can approach. Unless you got it from the control tables, I'd say 120 seconds is far too much. Most timing to a stand is around 30-45 seconds depending on the track circuit length. Obviously if you took the time from the control tables or wiring diagrams I'll shut up!! FF Log in to reply |
