Dumbly, can't set a route from s564 to s572. Then I look thru my list of over 20 drivers complaining that they're standing at a red, only to discover that one of them is requesting permission to depart from Matlock. I tell him to call me again in 15 mins so I can send my train out to Matlock, only to find that that by doing this I have only delayed his departure from Matlock by 15 mins. I should have taken my train off the main line into the BROADHOLME DN loop but didn't think of it. Now I'm stuffed and have to wait for the Matlock train to ring back in 15 mins, give him permission, and hold everything else back. This solution seems exceedingly dumb. Isn't there a better one?

Maxand, you can loop the held trains past your waiting Matlock service through Broadholme, it is passenger permitted so will be fine

Surely you need to give permission to depart FROM Matlock, as you need the single line clear before you can send the next train TO Matlock?

Did you never see the Exeter save he posted up once? It took about 8 hours sim time to get the service back to normal, then I found myself buried under a pile of sticky notes.

"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

I remember that one – never did get around to trying it out! It’s buried in my downloads folder somewhere – I’ll have to dig it out…

I remember it too, but I didn't download it. Is it still around?

Here's an idea for a SimSig mini-competition: Max posts up a save from when he gets himself into a bit of a pickle, and the person who gets it back to normal the earliest (sim time) gets a gold star!

Or highest % score by a certain time wins.

In fairness, going through the forums specifically Exeter there are an abundance of saved games to choose from...!

You can't send another train to Matlock if a train's already on the branch- it's essentially* a very long dead-end siding, so they'll end up hitting each other.

The best solution is to go back to a saved game before you told the driver to wait. Preferably, go back to a saved game before you had 20 drivers ringing in and start applying the advice myself and countless others have given you, because whatever you're doing at the moment clearly isn't working...

*I'm ignoring the connection to Peak Rail at the end, as it's only used by trains to/from the Peak Rail heritage railway.

Well that's my Sunday sorted then!

Here's the game: you've got until 12:00 sim time to improve the score as far as possible above the 47% start.

Terminating trains short or stepping trains up through a diagram isn't allowed.

At 12:00 post your F5 screenshot on here!

55%, thanks to some delays (see below) and having to use wrong platforms because of that.

EDIT: Maybe these posts could be moved to a new thread, because they have nothing to do with the topic, or Derby!

EDIT2: Original screenshot was taken at 10:00, now corrected

A very poor 52%. Was a bit slow cancelling a route for a delayed train and got a penalty.

Hope it's not too poor form to post my effort, sorry it's a bit late, but I loved this - it'd be great if we could do more things like this, as I'm not really able to do much multiplayer.

I got bowled by some late running, and in the four hours I never got back on top of the Exmouth services, leading to numerous wrong platforms. My main downfall, I think, was getting confused by the Honiton single line section - one train ended up stuck and passed Honiton 166 down(!)

Never mind anyway, this was really enjoyable! (And nice to know I'm about in the middle of the posted scores!)

You can normally jolly up a train in that situation by F2 train list - right click - signalling options - shunt forward and then check to see that he is rolling by looking at speed in F2 list. If that doesn't immediately work, step the train up to the next timing point by F2 - right click - Timetable options - run to another timetable - choose Ambergate in this instance. You may then need to shunt forward again. The only way you can have two consecutive trains in the same direction on the Matlock road is if you lock the first one in at Peak Rail, which is a different location, so you would have to edit the timetable accordingly and in the case of the one that is stuck up there, reverse him again.

Personally, I would get him moving pronto and take the hit as others have noted you can loop through traffic through Broadholme loop, which is pax rated.

Unfortunately this would make me think twice before uploading a save game, even if I think i've discovered a legitimate hard-to-repeat bug, as I would wonder if I would end up mocked for not doing a particularly good job up to that point.
