I even turned off my firewall and the loader will still fail to update.I think you are "jumping the gun" a bit. Windows 10 has not officially been released for general use unless it occurred yesterday. Windows 10 has been available as a technical preview for quite a while. Although people shouldn't expect a trouble free experience, without people like Shaquille trying it we might have to wait for the official release to find issues like this. Seems like no one has actually acknowledged the original question about the update failing, so I will. Yes, the update fails for me also with an I/O error 1784 when trying to update SimSigrefresher.exe I can see that it is trying to write to a temp file when the error occurs, presumably this is the download attempt. The file it's trying to write to ends up with 0 length. Operation: WriteFile Path: C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\simA5FA.tmp Result: 0xC00000E8 This happens regardless of admin rights or no, I have tried running as administrator and flagging all the loader and refresher programe with Win8 compatibility, so I don't think it's as straightforward as this. The file is of course in a writable area for my plain user account, so I doubt it's permissions. The error is unusual too: 1784 is "The supplied user buffer is not valid for the requested operation." Follow this link. Download it. Install it. You should then find the updater works again

I/O error 1784.Did you update your computer to Windows 10 before updating SimSig? If so, you need to download the system files again and install them. The version in the download contains a fix which allows the Updater to work on Windows 10. There is no need to uninstall anything or do anything else, simply run the new installer.
