Morning all, I was just thinking that Oxford could be a good sim, even if only as a single-player. Although it would, in the current shape of things, only chain towards Banbury (on the Marylebone sim) and SwinDid if an option for a 2015 scenario was also included then some of the line to Islip and Bicester could also be included. Dave EDIT: Some older eras would also make an interesting inclusion to give things a historical aspect. Last edited: 13/07/2015 at 11:05 by DaveHarries Log in to reply |

Don't forget to mention the older eras as they would be appreciated just as much by those of us who appreciate more the 1980s/1990s eras as opposed to the modern era, not only because of our individual interests, but the layout would be more complex & interesting. Appreciate this being harder to simulate, but the track plans could be produced if requested by those of us who either have them or have the contacts to those who have them along with other publications such as Sectional appendixes for the periods concerned.

No need for a 2015 era to enable chaining. Oxford has always fringed to Swindon since the IECC took control from reading. I have a 1987 Oxford station working book and timetables and it would make a good game with trains running round in the platforms etc. "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Last edited: 13/07/2015 at 12:57 by jc92 Log in to reply |

Both the 1987 & 1984 timetables I think would be far more intresting than the modern era for this sim as you'd not only still have the MGR traffic to & from Didcot Power station, but also newspaper trains still running. Another sim that would probably be a good single player sim like Salisbury would also be Worcester Shrub Hill which could chain to an Oxford sim via the line through Evesham. Log in to reply |

Sorry to bump, just saying how much of a great idea this would be (Oxford is my local station). Any further progress?

Made a mockup in my spare time of what the sim could look like... Haven't coloured it yet. Signal locations except the ones around the station at Oxford are approximate. The Heyford fringe isnt quite right there - Oxford can see further than that on the Up Main back towards Aynho.

The fringes were based on the signalling diagram given in a link above, and that doesn't go as far as Aynho. I'm not really an expert around that area either, more knowledgeable around the areas south of Oxford heading towards Hinksey and Radley. Its a staggered fringe there as DM75 is a Banbury South signal but UM75 is Oxfords.
