I have run 2 different sims with Windows 10 for about 3 hours now when suddenly the program/loader freezes my computer. I have to reboot it from scratch!

Any suggestions as what may be causing this freeze?

Not with that little info, no.

What sims? Were any other programs/processes running in the background? What was happening in the sim when they froze? Multiplayer or Standalone? Have you successfully run sims under Windows 10 for thing length of time without problems in the past?

Freezing your whole computer is not something that SimSig *should* be able to do. It likely points to a bug in windows (unlikely), a device driver (more likely) or a hardware problem, but perhaps interacting in a bad way with SimSig. I would definitely recommend updating all your drivers. Can you still move your mouse after the freeze?

James,

Motherwell and LTS.

Yes. Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Office Outlook.

I clicked on a signal to set a route.

No.

To answer Muzer' question "no". Everything locked up!

Just ran PBoro for three hours without a problem.I am using Win !0.

I also flight sim and was advised that I should turn off, under securirty Real Time Protection. This needs turning off at the start of a session as it comes back on when you next boot up your machine.

PBoro is not a loader sim. I do not appear to have problems with "exe" sims.

You can turn off Real Time Protection as long as you are not connected to the Internet.

You can turn off Real time Protection even when you are connected to the internet.

I have never had it turned on for all of my time using Win 7 and have not had any issues. You just have to be careful. Some flight sim sites make a point of telling you to turn it off as it can cause interference by its constant scanning.

Geoff will be please to know that Simsig is not to blame for the FREZZE!

Can it be a result of too many windows open?

Sounds more likely to be a RAM issue, or perhaps temperature if the machine isn't cooled sufficiently.

Further information:

I had the freeze again today. So I did some investigating and found Windows Program Compatibility Troubleshooter. I ran the Troubleshooter on Simsig Loader.exe. It compared the exe file with my Windows 8.1 version of the file and it came up with incompatibilities. I ran a fix and Windows did some adjustments to the exe and then asked me to test it. I ran the test and did not get a freeze.

I await with an abated breath!

I had the same issue over the last few days on LTS. Like you Barry I ran the compatability having read it on here and I will update as to how I get on too.

Which security do you use out of interest?

Windows Defender. Malwarebytes if there is a problem.

Hmmm not the same as me then so it doesnt appear to be that as an issue. I have been running now for a few hours and got further than ever before so solution looks promising
