Which simulation area do you want them for? I don't have any actual diagrams, but I live in the north west and could give you some general info based on what I've seen, if that would be of use?

Hello mate, Thanks for the offer to help :) Any Northern stuff out of Carlisle would be very helpful please! Mind this is Saturday Only. I saw a 156 and 142 on services around Barrow, there was a 153 parked up in P2 that didn't move for the 3 and a half hours I was there, is that a sort of hot spare? Last time, though was a few years ago, the S&C was 156's, I noted a 4 car and 2 car 158 on Leeds services, is this the normal traction nowadays? The Saturdays loco hauled stuff, is it 37+DBSO, with how many MK2's? Any help appreciated, it's based on the Saturday just gone Log in to reply |

As at last years visit, 158s are standard on S&C services, 156s on the newcastle carlisle and 156s and 150s on the barrows. Seems things might have changed a bit

S&C: 2-car 158s, sometimes strengthened with a 153. Carlisle-Newcastle: Predominantly 156s, with some 142s. ScotRail 156s on the three through trains each day between Glasgow Central and Newcastle via Hexham and Dumfries. Cumbrian Coast: Class 37+3 Mk.2s+DBSO, or Class 37+4 Mk.2s+Class 37 if a DBSO is on an exam. If you fancy adding a bit of interest, they have been known to swap 37s at Carlisle if one of them is a bit poorly... Diagram 1 5C33 05:34 ECS Barrow CS-Barrow 05:37 2C33 05:46 Barrow-Carlisle 08:33 2C40 08:42 Carlisle-Barrow 11:30 2C45 11:38 Barrow-Carlisle 14:24 2C34 14:33 Carlisle-Barrow 17:23 2C47 17:32 Barrow-Carlisle 20:29 5C47 20:40 ECS Carlisle- Kingmoor Sdg 20:51 Diagram 2 5C32 05:03 ECS Kingmoor Sdg-Carlisle 05:12 2C32 05:15 Carlisle-Barrow 08:04 2C41 08:45 Barrow-Carlisle 11:35 2C48 11:56 Carlisle-Lancaster via Barrow 16:08 2C31 17:31 Lancaster-Barrow 18:40 5C31 18:48 ECS Barrow-Barrow CS 18:51 Other services are a mix of single 156s and (usually) double 153s. Single 142s can put in an appearance- a 142 is usually used to cover if a loco-hauled set is unavailable- and there may be booked 142 workings. There are less 156s than there used to be on the coast- the hauled sets were provided to release 156s, which in turn are sub-hired to TPE to cover the loss of their 170s. jc92 said: As at last years visit, 158s are standard on S&C services, 156s on the newcastle carlisle and 156s and 150s on the barrowsYou won't have seen 150s on the Barrows- they're banned between Maryport and Carlisle. It would be very, very rare for a 150 to get to Carlisle these days. Hope that's of some help! Cheers for that guys! Your help is much appreciated :) Another query talking of units, are they parked up in the platform overnight or do they park up in the sidings? I assume the SR 156's park up in P7/P8, but as for the NT stuff starting from P2/P5/P6, are they stabled there? Any help appreciated as always Log in to reply |

" said:At night at Carlisle Platforms 5, 6 & 7 or 8 are taken from previous nighters on the station..Thank you buddy! I did wonder as I noticed a 158 parked in the siding behind the wall of P6 when I got there at 1300 and then went out at about 1440 or something to work a Leeds. You say P2 is usually empty, I noticed 153360 was parked there on Saturday with 'not in service' at both ends and didn't move at all for the 3 hours I was there, maybe either came off the other unit from Whitehaven (first one to use P2 in serivce) but I noticed on that Saturday, 2N04 was re-platformed and started from P2, not sure if the 153 had come from that and parked there all day. Probably too late to ask around what 153360 did last Saturday Log in to reply |

153360 is normally found on the coast from time to time, Was at Preston Friday before that Saturday believe it went to Morecambe with another 153 then since went to Barrow CS. You say P2 is usually empty during the night till morning then services apprear. I will see if I can get in touch with the Northern chap and see what and why it was in P2 all that time. The northbound (1M53) working gets in around 12, and the unit off it shunts to Collier Lane Siding where it waits for a few hours before working the southbound service (1E23). Quote: It looks like 2N04 was formed from 5C39, an ECS from Workington which arrived at about 23:00 the previous night, so that could've dropped the 153 off. I'm fairly sure Newcastle drivers don't sign 153s, so it's not likely to have come from a Newcastle service. 153360 arrived on the front of 2C31 (with 156451) from Whitehaven, and stabled. Later it formed 2C46, 1900 Carlisle to Whitehaven, 2C37 2030 Whitehaven to Carlisle, 2C34 2145 Carlisle to Workington where it stabled (all with 156459).

Getting upto 1300 now, though all VT services are in. Would any of you like to test it to check it works and that it looks right (correct units and movements are in)? I'm kind of fighting with the steam tour at the moment. It comes in to Carlisle P3, shunts to Sdg A, detatches, runs light with support coach in tow to Upperby UGL via Carlisle Rev CE335, that works all fine. It can get back to Sdg A from Upperby UGL, but wont attach to the stock and spoils over the tracks at the south end blocking access to P1. Tomorrow I might try setting the ECS to stop at the Near End then change the loco's long run around to stop at the Far End on return to Sdg A then hopefully it will knock onto the coaches. Not sure if it might be because the coaches has no further working as I didn't add it yet. Just thinking actually as I type that, I didn't set 'detach loco from rear' either I just used 'Detatch Rear' Log in to reply The following user said thank you: HST125Scorton |

S&C diagrams are slightly different on a Saturday to a weekday, but there are four main turns, all worked by 158s normally (but a 153 strengthens one). Goes something along the lines of: Turn 1 - 06.19 Leeds - Carlisle, 09.28 Car - Leeds, 12.49 Leeds - Car, 16.18 Car - Leeds, 19.07 Leeds - Ribblehead, 21.02 Ribb - Skipton Turn 2 - ECS Skipton - Ribblehead, 07.16 Ribb - Leeds, 08.49 Leeds - Car, 11.51 Car - Leeds, 14.37 Leeds - Car, 18.07 Car - Leeds (that has the 153 on for the first 3 parts, but loses it at Leeds prior to working the afternoon legs) Turn 3 - 07.52 Car - Leeds, 10.49 Leeds - Car, 14.26 Car - Leeds, 17.50 Leeds - Car (this picks up a second 158 set at Leeds after working the 07.52, then loses it again back at Leeds after working the 14.26 - comes off the Sheffield via Barnsley circuit) Turn 4 - 07.50 York - Leeds via Harrogate, 09.47 Leeds - Car, stables in the Collier Lane siding, then 15.49 Car - Leeds. Weekdays are slightly different, in that there's no Ribblehead service in a morning - the first southbound leaves Carlisle at 05.53 with the 153 in tow (as it's the main commuter service off the S&C & loads well from Skipton) and then does the 08.50 back north, whilst the first of the day from Leeds is at 05.29, returning at 08.53. The 08.53 ex-Carlisle does the 12.49 back north. Also the semi-fast unit (09.47 ex-Leeds, 15.04 back after a couple of hours in Collier Lane) does the last northbound from Leeds (18.06 to Carlisle), whist the double set on the 10.49 comes from Sheffield and then goes from Leeds to York & eventually Hull after doing the 14.04 ex-Carlisle. And finally the evening Ribblehead short from Leeds goes back there rather than terminating at Skipton. Three single 158s and one pair, plus a 153 handle that little lot - the 153 has a rather complex set of workings that also involve running to Lancaster on the 13.14 ex-Leeds, then pottering up & down the Furness & Cumbrian Coast lines before stabling overnight at Carlisle & hooking onto the 05.53 ex-Carlisle the following day. After subsequently being dropped at Leeds, I believe it ends up on the Calder Valley on the evening peak! The occasional 150 has been known to appear as a substitute - however only Leeds & Skipton crews sign them, so they aren't allowed to do the diagram that ends at Carlisle.
