Hi,

perhaps not a newbee question but posting here anyway (and I'm not really a newbee either, just a bit silent on forums)

Any procedures/best praticies to how to label a TCF (with TD's and reminders) and how when move TD's through the TCF?
Any best praticies to how to label things like a delay. TD (if possible)?

I just tend to put a sticky note on the defective TC/next to the delayed train. If you use the train describer, the description will be overwritten by passing trains.

When you authorise the train to pass the signal at danger, enter the description at the next signal and cancel the old one.

For a delayed train, depending on which simulation you are playing, there are a couple of things you want to consider.

First of all, when a train calls up and says it is delayed and you have the opportunity to return a controlled signal to danger, always do so. Even if you do not think it is necessary. Then, apply a reminder to the signal you have just returned to danger.

A train standing at a red signal which has a reminder applied will begin to stand out very clearly.

You may use a sticky note nearby to label the delay if you wish, but I don't find it necessary. You can always check your messages screen (printer icon next to telephone) which records the estimated departure time.

Thanks both.
I usually use sticky notes but it doesn't have visibility in a multi-play. Sometime when I can I put delay time on the TD in front but I guess that's not a common procedure.

It's uncommon because the passenger info screens on the platforms rely on the train describer.

So, if you put an invalid description in any berth, it'll muck up the indicator screens for the passengers.

Obviously that doesn't matter in SimSig so you can do whatever you like, but it's one reason why it isn't done.
