The West Hampstead summer 1991(May - September) V1.0DEC has been submitted for moderator approval to the downloads section. This timetable was written using the relevant WTTs for this period along with the St. Pancras/Kind's Cross Thameslink & Moorgate station working book. Along with my personal observations on this part of the midland mainline as I lived in Bedford & travelled to work at Liverpool Street Regional Control at this time. Please reme, ber to select the 1990 era when loading this timetable. There are a number of trains in the timetable which need special care namely the Land cruise Premier charter trains from St. Pancras to Scotland. This train will over hang in P7 at St. Pancras by quite some distance. This is NOT an error as this train was extremely long & the loco was in between the signal at the end of P7 & the next signal along on the Up & Down Slow. A bit of fiddlig mybe required to get the loco to join, but this has been carried out sucessfully under testas those of you who have tested this timetable will know. Also care is need to facilitate the run rounds in P1 at Bedford as the train needs to be signalled to the GPS just beyond the signal at the north end of P1 otherwise the rear of the train will not clear the junction at the south end of the station. Another train which will catch alot of users out is the 1st up Thameslink service ion the morning from Bedford which departs around 0430. This train MUST cross over onto the Up fast line at Radlett Jn as there is a train standing in P1 at Cricklewood & is booked to depart there after the 1st Thameslink has passed Cricklewood. Failure to do so will result in approx. 10 minute delay to the 1st Up Thameslink service. There are a number of trains during the peak periods which use certain platforms at Luton so care needs to be taken here also. The only issue I'm not 100% happy with & due to the fact that I don't have a station working book for Luton is that alot of the trains terminating at luton in P3 then shunt forward to Luton north to reverse & the platforming of the return srvices have been a best guess, but users can put trains into the platforms they think best suits. There is a wide variety of freight traffic on this line, predominantly aggregates from the Leicestershire quarries & the loading are as per the East Midlands 1990 freight train loads book & the Southern region freight trains loads book for 1989 & the Western Region freight train loads books for 1991 & 1993. There are a number of local trip services in & around Cricklewood & Bedford. There are also a number of 'Q' trains running which run as required so you aren't guaranteed to see them all. Most freight train services crew change at Bedford & this is carried out on the Up & Down fast lines not in the station (marked RP on the panel - Relieving Point). There a number of mail & postal services running. One of these also need great care, this being 3C02 which enters on the Up fast line at Wellingborough. This train MUST cross over from UF to US at Sharnbrook Jn. Otherwise you will delay an Up HST which enters about 10 minutes behind it. 3C02 stands at Bedford North Jn awaiting a northbound St. Pancras - Leeds mail out of P1 before 3C02 can run into P1. 2Z01 & 2Z02 which is an 8 car Cl.319 from St. Pancras - Luton - St. Pancras, this train conveyed JSATC traffic which was military supplies non combatant. The JSATC office at St. Pancras was on P2 & likewise on P5 at Luton. This train ran daily If anyone has any queries or issues then please post on this thread & I'll attempt to answer the quiery or fix the problem in the tt if there is one. This timetable is both challenging & busy & I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it. This timetable has been written using UIDs & Decisions.

One thing I might have forgotten to mention, timetable notes have been provided as .pdf document which gives details of the traffic flows you need to keep an eye on. A couple of other worthy points to note are some of the Cl.5 ECS movements from Moorgate to Crciklewood/St. Pancras, great care needs to be taken to route these correctly or else you'll make the job alot harder than it already is as most of the train recess in P3 at Kentish Town. one of the Cl.5 trains runs into the loop between West Hampstead & Cricklewood & splits so that is another one. Another train goes into P3 at kentish Town & reverses & goes to St. Pancras unlike the rest of them which go to Cricklewood depot. There is also a LD from bedford in the morning booked to recess in the north end bay at Luton. Do not let this loco out to go onto the Luton Hoo part of the branch as you will block the Cl.33 locos which have brought the cement train from Northfleet. Wait until those locos come out of the branch & reverse back onto the UF at Luton North Jn before releasing the loco from the north end bay. I'm sure people will post on here if they have any issues or queries. Thanks to AndyG, Kev, Mick Evans, Tony Francis, Joe Chandler & Ajax103 for testing this timetable.

Yep its in the West Hampstead timetable folder along with the 2009 timetables which show when the sim opens but the 91 one doesn't, one thing I've noticed as that the 2009 ones have WTT file as their type but the 91 one has RAR file, could this be the cause?

Yes you need to "unzip" the .rar file.

You go to www.rarlab.com download and install winrar, then you should be able to double click the rar file.

As promised in game reporting issues - 6B48 arrived before 0O62 in the current game (due to plenty of delays etc being on). This didn't go well...

Thanks for this WTT - it is really good to be able to make use of the earlier era with more St Pancras Platforms and Moorgate terminus. It makes Panel 1 a lot more interesting than the Westcad era.

My only observation to date is the terminating ECS at Bedford, where the next move is for the Washer, are ready to depart as soon as they arrive as a result of the departure time being set down only. Even if a Shunt Driver was taking over for disposal (i.e. no need for driver to change ends) I am guessing the Guard will need to check the train to ensure all passengers have left the train and some poor sod isn't snoring in the middle carriage after a few too many beers in London.

Okay, show of hands, who locked up the entire junction at Bedford North the first time they tried to run a loco around? :doh

You learn something new every day. This TT is great so far.

Let me say this, when I write a tt it is on a full running panel with no issues such as line closires or platforms blocked. If you run the tt with failures & delays you will end up paying the price. OK that adds some fun & interest & makes it more like the real railway, but even on normal settings you need to concentrate om what you are doing especially as the peak periods are exetremly busy. When we tested the timetable we never ran it with faults & failures. So if you make that choice then thats down to you. The timetables I write are based on a fully functioning railway. With regards to trains terminating at Bedford & then the 'TRTS' goes off for the workings into the washer, this I think maybe a core code issue & has been reported on MANTIS. The next timetable I'm about 75% of the way through before testing starts is King's Cross summer 1985 & anyone running that timetable with faults & failures may well end up in a sticky mess as so many movements tie in to each other & as soon as a particular train is delayed it then has a knock on effect which snow balls. Maybe the way round it is to have faults & failures, but don't make the repair time as long, shorten it so you are able to resume normal running. The main thing is you enjoyed it & found it challenging. I don't do simple timetables.

With regards to your comment about the cement train working over the Dunstable branch. In the morning a Cl.47/0 comes off the loco holding sdgs at Bedford & goes LD to Luton & stables in the north end bay. In the years prior to 1989 when the newspaper contracts finished using BR we used to book on duty at 0415am & travel up to Luton on the 0430 from Bedford. the loco was usually a Cl.45 or Cl.47, started the engine came out of the north end bay & reversed onto 2GUVs left in P5 off an earlier north bound newspaper train. Once they off loaded the nespapers we would shunt the GUVs into the north end bay & wait there until the Hither Green men arrived with the Northfleet - Dunstable cement working worked by a pair of Cl.33/0 locos. They would then set back down onto the Luton Hoo stub of the branch detach & then run through P5 & reverse at luton north from the DF to the UF & the go LD back to the Southern Region. We would then come out of the bay & drop down onto the train couple up, brake test & then draw forward past the front of Luton station which is off panel where there is a run round loop & we wnt down to where we pick up the staff for the journey to Dunstable. The token was the key to the GF at Dunstable where there was a triangle of lines as well as an oil siding that was used occasionally with a train from Ripple Lane & then the line to the cement terminal. The cement terminal had its own diesel loco which used to come & collect the loaded wagons & bring out the empties for the return eveing trip from Luton to Northfleet. Once we'd placed the loaded tank wagons in the exchange sdgs we returned LD to Cricklewood. In this era of the timetable the loco came from Bedford. I've attached a photo of 47114 when it was in railfreight Construction livery returning from Luton after dealing with the cement train in 1988. In the back ground are a couple of Cl.31/1 locos stabled on the holding sdgs at Bedford.

Works fine if done correctly! You must use signal 615, not 475 to shunt the loco.

The train types need a Terminate reverse, and Station reverse Dwell time adding. I'll arrange for it to be done.

I dont follow the issue? 0O62 runs out onto the main to reverse onto the up fast at luton, 6B48 runs to Dunstable. no particular Conflict I can see.

To be honest, I think it's a bug - Simsig's "default" reversal time shouldn't be instant (and I'm sure it never used to be!). I wonder if "Departs when Ready" is interfering with the reversing time calculation.

It is, I wanted to get rid of the backlog so to speak & with the new version of Coventry finished & released along with Leamington Spa & now West Hampstead I'm going to concentrate on King's Cross summer 1985 during the week as that has over 855 trains in it so far so most of the work has been done. I went through last week adding UIDs & Decisions. Got to reduce the number of warnings from the analyser before putting in the remaining trains. It will be somewhat different to the version of KX 1985 currently available. Once that has been released I can then concentrate full time on Motherwell 1979-1980. I'm looking t releasing KX summer 1985 in about 4 weeks subject to testing. I can't host as I haven't a clue how to set my modem up for port forwarding, but I'm sure there will be volunteers to host it when ready.

No, 6B48 was there in front of 0O62, so only alternative being to send 0B48 to join up with it first but once 0B48 to join it was fouling the points so couldn't be sent to Dunstable. In hindsight what we should have done is shifted 6B48 onto the down fast, let 0O62, then propelled it back into luton hoo and forwards to Dunstable, but I didn't think of that at the time!

As pasq says we do these things at our peril
