I'm hoping that someone can solve a puzzle for me... I've been playing the South Humberside Brigg Diversions timetable again and it reminds me that quite some years ago during some engineering work (?) westbound TransPennine units would use Platform 1 at Scunthorpe rather than Platform 2. Can anyone tell me how this was possible? Was there a crossover that has now been lifted? Did they run wrong way from S341? Or...? It would be quite a handy trick for this timetable but SimSig doesn't seem to accept that it can be done! TIA.

IIRC there was a crossover at each end of the station at the time

I'm not aware of there ever being a facing crossover at the east end of the station (to allow Down trains to access the Up platform directly), and certainly not a signalled route in the wrong direction from further east. Could the trains in question have been worked under Single Line Working regs or even starting at Scunthorpe having terminated from the west?
