Anyone know what barrier error code 47 is, it's listed as unused on all the references I can find on-line. I and a colleague with GTR smartcards get it every day at one specific Gate (#52) at Westminster tube. Have contacted TfL but they did not seem to understand the point I was making, referring me back to GTR. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Do an FOI request for "UTS gate codes", all the ones so far show 47 as being spare.

As Ben says a new FOI request will probably reveal all. Thanks, I'm trying to report a fault rather than FOI - but I'll go back to them. I may even call over a staff member to see. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Have contacted TfL but they did not seem to understand the point I was making, referring me back to GTR.According to an app I have, on the tube code 47 is an "ITSO validation error" which I assume means there's an issue validating the smartcard so could just be an issue with the gate itself. Hope this helps. Last edited: 21/12/2015 at 17:12 by GW43125 Log in to reply |

Our staff are familiar with most of the codes, and if not they can usually call someone who knows. Our gates have been known to show codes not strictly related to the real problem. The gate may indeed be suffering some sort of issue or not been set correctly for this type of pass. One of the barriers for platforms 9,10,11 at Kings Cross (the farthest right) seems to enjoy invalidating my season ticket so then it doesn't work anywhere. I thought it was a one-off but I've since had it happen twice more. Log in to reply |

Thanks, GW43125's post makes sense and I've emailed back to try and clarify the point. I'll see what happens after Christmas. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

FWIW, there are two Android apps of relevance to this thread subject. "London Tube - Oyster Errors" & "Ticket Gate Error Translator" Both very very similar in terms of actual design/usage (user experience), so optional as to which you install; although I'd say that it wouldn't hurt to install both as they are a very small size (under 440kbs in total), plus whether or not a specific code has a reason/explanation provided in either app relies on the developer updating the app to include any new ones as or when they're introduced/used. Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. Log in to reply |

TFL have said they have forwarded my original query to station supervisor. Asked to see a supervisor on 31/12 - he was not aware and was not sure what he would do even if he were. I demonstrated the problem and was advised just to use another gate. That's not really the issue though! Now having a problem with code 70 (appears to be another "unused" code) at gate 54. Anyone with the app able to tell me what that might be? Thanks Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

It's not just my card - one of my colleagues has exactly the same card for the same journey (BIW + Z1-6) and it returns the same error (not tested on this latest error yet). It works fine on all the other gates and stations. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |
