No sounds and low resolution 22/12/2015 at 20:44 #79114

Hi again,

I've taken the very few first steps in Royston between all preparation required before Christmas :)

I was wondering if there is a collection of sounds I can download from somewhere? In the options and messages I see that several messages should be accompanied by sound, but no sound is playing...

Also, the resolution is not optimized for my screen (1920 x 1080). I guess this is normal and not possible to change (but I have to ask just in case)

Thank you for your help.

Here, or you can make your own.

Should add that you can put them anywhere then cause the options to point to the file.

Yes, the older, paged simulations have a fixed window size. If the sim is currently running in fullscreen mode, maybe you'd prefer the windowed mode (Options (F3) -> Display -> Windowed mode) instead.

Do I need all those files? So I choose what sound I'd like myself, the sim do not care about that?

Sim sounds can be any .wav file you choose, those in the download area are merely a selection of what users have uploaded to the website from their personal preference.

Sounds need to be allocated to message types by going into F3> Messages, selecting the message type and using the menu to select a sound file stored on your computer. Ticking the box causes the sound to play, provided you've specified a sound file. If you haven't, there will be no sound.

Sound files can be any .wav file. There's a selection to download, or, if you have any of your own/find something elsewhere on the internet, you can use them.

And you can edit sections out of tracks with the right software, can't recall what I used. I made the AB dings from recordings Andrew G made in a signal box and I used to have the train entering sound a Deltic horn, can't find it now that I think of it.
