It may well just be me doing something wrong (or not doing as the case may be) but Dean AHB does not seem to work for down stoppers.

Yes, I've checked "The Manual" and followed the instructions,(Pull "STOP" and do nothing else)but the train just sits there like a pudding. The only way I can get it to move is to pull "SET" (which according to the instructions should not be done)

Dunbridge works perfectly.

Also, apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I have searched in vain for a topic containing this.

It's Dunbridge LC that has the quirk; the Stop/Non-stop and Set buttons need to be used for Dean LC. The manual says:

Quote:
Level Crossings
Dunbridge AHB

Dunbridge AHB Stop/non-stop control has an approaching train alarm. The real panel has a note:
Dunbridge AHB N & S Selection
Non-Stopping Train
PO track must be clear; TA1 must be clear (when Down train activates Dean Hill AHB it is clear of TA1 trac)
Switch to N and Pull the T Selection Button
Stopping Train
Take no action!
Do Not move N/S Selector Switch or Use the T button
Allow alarm to sound
Alarn will self cancel after a few seconds and flashing T button will self cancel when train passes clear of PO track

There isn't a similar note for Dean AHB

This what the manual says!

Dunbridge and Dean AHBs have stopping/non-stopping controls for down trains only.

As I said, Dunbridge works perfectly (for me) but Dean just doesn't!

You need to operate (and set) the stop/non-stop control for all Down trains at Dean LC. The control at Dunbridge can be ignored for stopping trains as per the manual quote that I gave you earlier.

Kev,

That's what I am trying to say - I set the controls as per the manual and the train just sits at the red signal - the barriers don't open!!!

All I get is an irate driver on the phone!

Sometimes they deign to open after about 7 minutes, but not always...............

I think we are talking at cross purposes. Putting it simply:

For Dunbridge LC - You only need to operate the stop/non-stop control for non-stop trains.
For Dean LC - You need to operate the stop/non-stop control for all trains.

IRL there is a note on the panel that explains this. See here in the manual.

Kev,

Sorry, it's probably me who is not making myself clear.

Forget Dunbridge - it works for me.

It's Dean which doesn't.

I pull the STOP for the stopping train and the train stops. Then the problem starts. The barriers do not lift and the train just sits there (for ever if I let it!) UNLESS I pull SET - but the manual tells me I should not do this for stoppers - only for NS trains..

You need to pull Stop or None Stop as appropriate, then press the set button.
"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

"Dean AHB [has] stopping/non-stopping controls for down trains only. The green/orange buttons can be toggled as required, then press 'Set' to initialise. When the train passes the protecting signal, the 'SET' button will cancel ready for the next train."

It looks pretty clear that "Set" must be used for Dean AHB after selecting the option.

That's what stumped me this afternoon.

I couldn't figure out what's the "pull T", where's the T? where's the TA1 ? Where's the PO?

I had the nonstop button lit up on both Dean and Dunbridge earlier when i had the ECS to Salisbury from So'ton then had the freights from Warminster & Andover way and i couldn't get the lit light to off nor change the nonstop to stopper to allow first stopper from Salisbury to go past.

In the end i had to click the red circle lights to get red light lit up as to cancel the lit SET lights off then switch red light off.

Surely I'm confusing myself !!!

Maybe I'm a dunce understanding the workings to setting the procedure in simple terms.
