Hi Everyone,
I had just noticed that the timetable for this event has just been published and I am considering writing a timetable for it, however upon closer inspection I managed to confuse myself with how it would work, please could someone in the know advise on the following:

1) Assuming that the 'DVT' is with set A, how do the other workings return from Corwen
2) Do all the locomotives complete a round trip with the set, i.e 0920 from Llan and 1015 from Corwen or do locos change sets at Carrog/elsewhere

Many Thanks for your help

Well I've just got back from a day on the 109 at Llangollen.....

We don't have DVTs at Llangollen. The BSK vehicles at the Llangollen end of the train is fitted as a PCV (Propelling Control Vehicle), this is a module that is fitted over the rear corridor connection and contains a warning horn, a brake valve, and a window so that the driver can see the road ahead. It can also be fitted to a TSO vehicle if that has been marshalled behind the brake coach.

As for the upcoming gala; The simple answer is no the locos don't all complete a round trip with the train they set off from Llangollen on.

From the working timetable all the trains over the Carrog to Corwen East section are top and tailed, either a banker will attach at Carrog if the train has arrived single headed, or if it's arrived double headed the pilot loco will detach and run round.

On return from Corwen East the Corwen East end loco will then detach and become the banker for the next train.

There's one oddity in the morning where the first train goes up double headed, and is met by a banker loco at Carrog so it'll go forward with two on the front and one on the back.

Thank you very much for your swift reply, and apologies for my dodgy terminology, very much appreciated :)
I'm assuming that this means that some return trains will also be double headed??

Yes it does, think there's about three up trains that go back double headed.
