Speke TC phone calls- unusual behaviour 29/04/2016 at 22:35 #82057

Please can someone explain what the phone calls at Speak TC are supposed to be simulating?

While playing the simulation, I requested permission for 6F19 to enter the T.C., and set the route from SE402 to Siding 4. Messing around, I then set a route from SE60 to the Up Siding, and immediately cancelled it. This had the effect of cancelling the permission for 6F19, and also replacing SE402 to danger. Is this a bug?

Also, it appears that you can't set a route into a siding that requires permission to be given, without first obtaining permission. The 'A slot is required for this route' message appears. However, there are no slot indicators anywhere on the panel. In reality, do the controllers of these sidings give a slot release to allow a train to enter, or is it just a verbal agreement with the signaller? On Leeds, for example, a call to the FLT is followed by the slot indicator illuminating, at which point a route can be set. On Paisley, there are no slot indicators, and you can set a route into sidings at any time you wish- though you obviously get a penalty if a train enters without permission.

Is the behaviour of the phone call permissions in Edge Hill intentionally simulating a different method of working, or is it a bug?
