2:58 - don't think I have broken a rule! The M was the real bugger! I had put together a route in 2:25 but a connection at Stratford was 4 minutes! Bah!

Thanks for this Peter, I'm off ill today and this has been a good tonic!

Edit: I'm convinced there's a better way after getting to Liverpool Street but my brain has frazzled!

4a. Underground stations in Buenos Aires Argentina.
Palermo and Florida are also Railway stations (though Florida underground station - it's downtown - is nowhere near the Florida railway station - which is about 9 miles away in the suburbs, actually it's part of Vicente Lopez City).
Palermo underground and railway are one above the other.

No. 11 is hard because there isn't many stations beginning with the letter 'I'. Anyway, one from the South West, bit of thinking time while on my lunch break:

Camborne
Hayle
Redruth
Ivybridge
Starcross
Tiverton Parkway
Montpelier
Avonmouth
Shirehampton

0730 Camborne - Hayle 0737 [1C09]
0754 Hayle - Newton Abbot 1030 [1A16]
- calls at Redruth (0813)
- calls at Ivybridge (1004)
1036 Newton Abbot - Exeter St Davids 1112 [2F21]
- calls at Starcross (1100)
1120 Exeter St Davids - Bristol Temple Meads 1224 [1S47]
- calls at Tiverton Parkway(1137)
1234 Bristol Temple Meads - Avonmouth 1300 [2K22]
- calls at Montpellier (1242)
1315 Avonmouth - Shirehampton (1318) [2K23]

I didn't win (I don't think so) but the time taken was 05 hours and 48 minutes, two XC voyagers, one GW tram and two GW units.

Happy Christmas everyone!

Correct Forest Pines. The layout looks very unusual in Quail, but makes sense when you see in on the ground.

Yes, its Steige on the Harz Railway in Germany with its reverse loop. I was their last Summer and two of the three trains decided to run around and shunt back onto the single line rather than use the loop. Its an interesting layout with mostly sprung points and just two hand worked points.

11. Christmas timetable challenge. Visit a national rail station beginning with the letters C,H,R,I,S,T,M,A & S in that order.
- Start at any station beginning with the letter 'C'
- All times from National Rail Journey Planner for Monday 9th January 2017

- The minimum connecting time between trains is 5 minutes.
- No out of station transfers/London Underground (London Overground is OK).
- Please list all "Christmas" stations and any other station where you changed trains.
The best answer so far is 2h58m from RainbowNines for a journey from Chadwell Heath to South Acton.
12. Where are the following locations in the three photos below?
-Perrygrove Railway, Forest of Dean
-Britannia Bridge, Menai Straits
-The loop near black Rock on Volks Electric Railway, Brighton

Thanks to everybody who has taken part so far. Either you are getting better or the questions are getting easier. Still 4e. tp answer and that 2h58m could possibly have a few minutes shaved off it.

Peter.

A few minutes on Google finds the answer, but that is a bit like taking your smartphone to a pub quiz.

Thanks to Peter for the work in setting up the quiz and the opportunity to take part. I'm still working on <2:58.

On question 11 - I'm fairly sure I can't get quicker, but I possibly think I can do it the cheapest.

So, as a bonus question, what is the cheapest you can do all the stations based on one adult traveling.

Will post my answer if no one gets it by Friday.

Pure guess, could it be Brussels?

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

Well, mine doesn't leave z6 so £11.70 with an Oyster! In fact as I wouldn't touch out at Harold Wood it'd be £9.20 - but I'm being very disingenuous there!
