Wow, well I've just dipped my toe in the water with my first go on Royston and I hadn't a clue what I was doing. I seemed to get quite a few things happening that I couldn't find covered in any tutorials, like two trains on the same secton of track with the same headcode that both seemed to change their code halfway through the route. I had what seemed to be trains in the section that were just xxxx's as the headcode and no timetable associated with them, all I could do is keep cancelling them. I had the train departing platform indicator flashing when there were no trains to depart. I had trains that seemed to progress along the route but leave their headcode behind and end up as an unidentified train, whats that all about? Things can only get better from here, lets hope they do. Log in to reply |

That would cause the descriptions to be dropped. The TRTS indications are extinguished when the signal at the end of the platform clears; if you don't clear it then the indicator stays lit. Trains enter the simulation with a description attached. Every time the train passes a signal, the description is moved ('stepped', to give the proper name), to the next signal. If a description is cancelled for whatever reason, and the train moves to the next signal, '****' is inserted. A handful of trains terminate at Royston, at this point the description changes. You'll see this in the timetable (click on the description to view the train's timetable), it'll show N: followed by a description. You need to interpose the new description (see this Wiki page) when the train arrives at Royston. They will have a structured training course but were no doubt as confused as you were when they first sat in front of the panel. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Malton Dodger |

Cheers for that. Another quick question, I've downloaded the tutorials for Royston but windows needs to know what prog to open them with and it can't seem to find one online, do you have a suggestion ?

If you're referring to one of these, they're timetable files. Copy them from the folder you downloaded, and paste them in Public Documents\SimSig\Timetables\Royston (Full Windows 7 file path is C:\Users\Public\Documents\SimSig\Timetables\royston). You'll then be able to select the timetable when you start a new simulation. See the Installation Guide for more details.
