There is a difficulty on the Treherbert branch when the system loses a train. At about midday I have 2T18 running late and waiting at Porth for the token. When it gets it, the train description correctly steps forward to Ystrad Rhondda, but then disappears. Because of the late running 1T18 is soon waiting at Porth. While it is waiting there, its train description improperly steps forward to Treherbert. Phone calls every two minutes now say "Hello driver of (none). Please call back in two minutes."

The ID shown in the phone calls is based on what descriptions are in the relevant berths. To get the right ID to display, simply interpose the correct TD at the signal or stop board.

I was going to post that Rick, but am wondering why the TD "improperly stepped", if it indeed did so.

Saved simulation attached. 2T16 is going from Ystrad R to Treherbert but will disappear off the diagram. 1T18 is waiting at Ystrad R for the token but its indication has stepped forward to Treherbert. Phone calls will come from "driver of (none)" and we will reply wait 2 minutes. At about 12:20 1T18 will be offered teh token from Treherbert back to Ystrad R even though it is still at Ystrad R going to Treherbert.

regards

Nigel

I don't think it improperly stepped, I think whats happened is 2T16 had arrived at Ystrad relenquised the Porth - Ystrad token and while 2T16 was at Ystrad 1T18 was given the Porth - Ystrad token and as it moved it's TD imposed on 2T16, but before it interposed on 2T16, 2T16 had been given the Ystrad - Treherbert Token, so as 1T18 TD was interposed on 2T16 just as or just after permission to withdraw token 1T18 TD steps forward incorrectly to Treherbert. And as a result 2T16 seems to dissappear.

The is speculation in regards to 2T16 and 1T18, but based on what I am seeing on the sim having run it for 14 mins seems quite possible as I have 2T16's return 2F43 travelling the Treherbert - Ystrad section 1T18 at Ystrad waiting for a token, but has released the Porth - Ystrad token and have 2T20 at Porth calling and asking for the Porth - Ystrad token.

So I belive it it possible that 1T18 called and asked for Porth - Ystrad token and just after, but before his TD stepped, 2T16 asked for and given the Ystrad - Treherbert token and 1T18 TD stepped as he call was taken place or just after replacing 2T16 TD before 2T16 was able to move itself.

Although I do still have one question how had 1T18 got to Ystrad and it is waiting in the platform there, As 2T16 on save start up seems to arrive at Ton Pentre a minute or 2 after starting the sim, and according to incident report 2T16 has not been deleyed anyware between Porth - Ystrad.

I don't know if it is a loader issue or not but it maybe worth updating your loader to the latest version, this can be achived by either running your loader as administrator then checking for updates (once you have updated exit updater and loader), or downloading the systemfiles from site again and re-installing

On startup with the sim paused:

TD for 1T18 is at Treherbert
TD at Ystrad Rhondda Up Side is blank
2T16 is shown last location Ystrad Rhondda moving Up direction at 47mph
1T18 is waiting for Right Away at Ystrad Rhondda

2T16 will be in possession of the Ystrad Rhondda to Treherbert token and the Porth to Ystrad Thondda token will be in the machine as 1T18 has arrived there, which is what the indications show.

Where 2T16 is in the section between Ystrad Rhondda and Treherbert is irrelevant, as is how long it took for 1T18 to reach Ystrad Rhondda from Porth. I suspect 2T16 got delayed at Ystrad Rhondda by the Signaller due to the confusion with the TD and which train was where, but either way it has no bearing on the operation.

How the sim is designed to work is that the TD will step automatically when the train leaves each loop. The issue here appears to be simply that due to late running of 2T16, 1T18 was already at Porth waiting for the single line before 2T16 has surrendered the Porth to Ystrad Rhondda token, which it has then done correctly. The Signaller has then granted a token release to 1T18 at Porth and cleared the signals as normal.

2T16 had not departed Ystrad Rhondda towards Treherbert at this time, and I would suggest he has not done so before 1T18 has passed signal VR302 at Porth. When 1T18 passes VR302 the TD will step to Ystrad Rhondda Up Side, which it appears to have done correctly, but as 2T16 had not yet departed from Ystrad Rhondda the TD was overwritten. When 2T16 (which by this time will have been described as 1T18) departed towards Treherbert, the TD stepped from Ystrad Rhondda Up Side to Treherbert, hence 1T18 is now described at Treherbert.

The phone calls for the tokens use the headcode that is in the appropriate berth at the time of the call to identify the train, hence the call from (none) when 1T18 is ready to leave Ystrad Rhondda for Treherbert.

I will log this on Mantis to see if there is anything Karl can do about it, but in reality there are no train describers on the branch, and this seems to be a fairly unique occurance of bad timing. In the meantime to get things back to normal for your game, interpose 2T16 at Treherbert, and 1T18 at Ystrad Rhondda Up Side and the calls will then generate correctly for the next messages from each location.

EDIT: I should add that the loader version will make no difference as 4.6.0 to 4.6.1 was to correct a display issue with times caused by an update to Windows by Microsoft.

I'll work through from the previous save 30 minutes prior, and see what happens.

Meantime, can someone say, is it permissible to give the token from Porth to Ystrad R with an up train in the loop at Ystrad R? (In other words is there an overlap issue?)

You can give it but you shouldn't until you've given the train at Ystrad Rhondda a token to proceed to Treherbert.
