Times move on and a lot of the earlier simulations are now being or have been released as a loader version. Some of these simulations have had changes made to them which now have some direct effect on previously released timetables. These timetables have taken the authors some considerable time to create but now in some cases have small problems with them that may effect the running of the timetable and may have even made them unusable. In some of the simulations the list of timetables that are available for download are quite extensive (look at those available in Kings Cross) and in some cases there are various versions of the same timetable that are available. The task of creating a simulation and timetables is not something that is readily acknowledged here on the forum but I for one admire the work that has been done so in a way I feel guilty about asking this question but here goes.
Does anyone keep a record of which timetables are compatable with which versions of the associated simulation.
I may be asking for the earth on this but by putting it on the forum at least we will have some reasonable discussions as to how this could be achieved if it is not available already. It could be that we might have to rely on users to report back when a timetable has been run through from beginning to end. I know a lot of the problems that people encounter are brought up in the forum but in some cases the original authors do not want or are not able to make the changes that may be required. It may be that when you go to the wiki and look that some clue as to what version of the timetable it is and on what version of the sim it will work on could be readily available.

Over to you guys.

Geoff.

Sim developers do take into account older timetables when they update a sim. It's not a very popular thing to do to break user supplied content!

As an example, recently I updated Kings Cross to go as far back as Sandy as that is a mandatory timing point for all trains, whereas the existing entry point was not. Instead of just moving the entry points and breaking old timetables, I instead added two new entry points and kept the existing ones so older timetables would be compatible and newer timetables could use the newer entry points.
