Looking at the layout depicted at Fouldubs Junction, the actual entrance to the FLT doesn't appear to be included - it's simply shown as an unused stub to the left of the run round. Similarly, signals FD33/34, controlling the exit from the FLT, is also missing (although I've yet to find evidence that FD34 definitely still exists). Are these intentional modifications to simplify the layout? I note the run round itself is also simplified. On the diagram shown on the site linked below, the FLT is the siding marked "Cement Depot". What Simsig refers to as FLT 1 is the deadend siding south of the FLT used to store empty wagons, marked as Up/Down Branch on the diagram. As Simsig states, FLT 2 is the former TMD. https://signalbox.org/diagrams.php?id=586 Last edited: 01/11/2017 at 13:28 by Danny252 Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Just wondering if there are any plans to update the Fouldubs Jn area? The run-round was upgraded in 2000s(?) and the wires have been added in the last couple of years (IRL there has apparently been little use of them particularly after a small shrubbery was found around an 88's pantograph). Looking at a recent Sectional Appendix, it appears that it should be possible for 2 trains to use the run-round facility at once (No.2&3 Loops), with locos using No.1 loop as a 'release' line. Drivers then having to ask permission to pass a stop-board at the Docks end of 2&3 loops and reversing over the (sprung?) points towards FD18? P.S. FD34 definitely existed in 2009 Post has attachments. Log in to view them. In Zone 6, no one can hear you scream... Log in to reply |

Just the two loops with the docks line separate in Quail for 2007 Railscot gives May 2011 as the date for the additional loop connection to the docks line Looking at the RailScot images, in 2007 most of the Malcolm / Tesco terminal is as per SimSig on the depot and former Orchardhall/Alcan lines ('1' and '2'with a (?) newish addition using the former cement line (third span of the M9 bridge, call it '3'). https://www.railscot.co.uk/img/13/887/ These also confirm FD34 in 2007 Currently the larger FLT on '3' has replaced the other two, might only be applicable to EGIP era. I can imagine it would be a lot of work to change and likely cause timetable / era problems without a 5th era ('EGIP+FLT3'). The EGIP era update only considered the necessary EGIP alterations, rather than a full rebuild of everywhere. Bill Log in to reply |

That is also why FD34/39/40 have not been not shown, the old 'cement' siding behind FD34 was used for the invisible run round rather than truly being 'missing'.Is another era necessary? An simple entry/exit for Cement Depot/Grangemouth TDG, FD34 and the other end of Point 17 shouldn't break any timetables. However it is the additional points, and use of them, at the docks end is where I see the main difficulties. Users would expect existing timetables, to 'work' and 'look right' with the train at 'Fouldubs run round' which is currently somewhere invisible where trains are just given a suitable dwell time. Note that FD18 is within the new 'dock line loop', not clear north of it. So the run round light engines would appear north (left) of it. Would the docks line also be location 'Fouldubs run round', or only lines 1 & 2 ? How would passing trains interact with the added locations ? How does the loops exit alter handling trains entering from the docks to avoid Mexicans ? Obviously up to Peter whether such an update gets done, but that is some idea of the complexities for relatively little new functionality. Log in to reply |
