Hi All,
having just recently joined SimSig I'm unsure as to if you can put a purchased Sim onto a second PC or not. I bought the excellent Edinburgh Sim just before xmas and installed it onto my main PC.
Am I also able to put it onto my laptop or not ?
Thanks for any advice.

Phil

Licence Manager allows you to assign your licence to a single machine. You can remove the licence and assign it to another machine.

But, the brief answer to your question is "No".

To amplify a little you can have a sim installed on as many machines as you want. However the sim will only run in demo mode unless you have a licence allocated to the machine where you want to run the sim.

If you want to run the sim on your main machine at home and on your laptop when you are away, you will need to unallocate the licence from your main machine before you close it down. When you are then on your laptop, allocate the licence and then remember to unallocate before closing down. I think that needs a live internet connection but I could be misunderstanding things. If you forget to unallocate the licence on your main machine before starting to use your laptop you can't allocate the licence to the laptop as it is locked to your main machine. If you can't access your main machine you can request admin to unallocate the licence by posting on the Forum but it may take a few hours to go through (and doing it too often may get you some comments about putting unnecessary work in the way of the admin). You should really only use that process when something has gone wrong like a computer failure.

What you cannot do with a single licence is run a multiplay session using both laptop and main machine.

Preferable to request an unlock via your license manager, that sets a visible flag on our screen which we can then act upon by couple of clicks. Posting runs the risk of being lost in time if it's not spotted and involves a lot more admin work so you would generally be told to do the above anyway but having irritated the admins in the process.
