I'm creating a TT for Piccadilly. When a working has a 'next working' as part of the TT, what stock gets used - the same stock as in the previous working, or the stock that is selected for that working in its own TT line. EG, I have 5A05 from Longsight selected as an 11 car 390, but the next working (1A05) was duplicated from a working (1A03) which I used a 9 car 390 for. I would presume the TT looks at the inbound working and goes from that to avoid random length changes in a platform? There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway. Log in to reply |

You will need to alter 1A05 to an 11 car set - analyse the TT without changing the stock type you will see a length warning.

To actually answer the question, you do not need to alter 1A05 (even if that would be sensible!), as the train will run. 1A05 will have the same length of the inbound 5A05, much as you would expect if you substituted another train for 5A05 when playing due to some disruption, and magically changing train length wouldn't work well as you suggested. The most obvious issue is that it doesn't seem possible to easily work out what stock a train is actually made of if not the timetabled stock. The timetable for 1A05 will still show it as 11-car, and the F2 "Description" column simply copies the description of the timetabled stock. The "Length" and "Power" columns do at least represent the actual train. Edit: It appears a better description that 1A05 will adopt the properties of its assigned train type, but retain the length of the inbound working; e.g. if 1A05 has a faster train type assigned, the train will gain this new speed. Thanks, your responses make a lot of sense - hadn't got round to analysing anything yet so didn't realise there was a tool for that!

Duplicating a schedule, as in a carbon copy keeps all the information of the previously provided schedule, in this case 1A03, which you then alter to 1A05 and redo the times if necessary. In F2 the stock type is read from the Train Category on Train Characteristics tab in the editor and is not generated from any previous working. Every Schedule must have its own traintype. One way this functionality is used is to change dual-voltage EMUs from AC to DC and back at Euston. These EMUs normally run in pax service on the "DC Lines" (which don't have OHLE), but come in as ECS on the main line (which doesn't have a third rail).

If so, this is verifiably false through simple testing. I don't know why you keep saying "need" - the train will run, and will not magically make/remove coaches to match the timetabled type. Again, verifiable by testing with a "Next" activity between two trains of different types. Yes, there is a warning, but no error that prevents the train from entering and running. Log in to reply |

Further to the previous, mismatched stock workings are shown in the attached example WTT for the Exeter sim. Two train types are defined, "40m_60mph" and "80m_75mph". Train 5Z00 of the former type forms train 1Z00 of the latter type (80m_75mph), and 5Z99 of the latter type forms 2Z99 of the former type (40m_60mph). If you analyse the timetable, you will see the warnings about mismatched lengths as expected. You will find that train 1Z00 reports itself with description "(80m_75mph)" in the F2 screen, whilst simultaneously showing a length of 40m. The opposite will occur with 2Z99, which is longer than its reputed train type. In a correction to my previous statements, it appears that the maximum speed of the "new" train type is adopted; 1Z00 will be found to be going along at 75mph as timetabled (but not matching its inbound stock working). There is some rather alarming stuff in this thread. In order to be accepted for upload to the download section, timetables must: 1) Have no Errors 2) All Warnings when they cannot be got rid of have a reasonable explanation for them (for example, a train terminating at Beaconsfield will always generate a warning about being a non-sensible place even though in 2016 it is entirely legitimate) 3) All stock types are used appropriately (where Custom is used, it should be reasonable, and match between workings). Clear as mud! Sorry guys, I am in the business of making people wait! Log in to reply |
