1W84 appeared on the down main, in the Crewe Junction approach berth. There were no other trains anywhere nearby on the down main. Then an abnormal load phoned from Whittington AHBC asking for permission to cross. I phoned the Crewe Junction signaller and requested a line block. The Crewe Junction signaller said the line would be blocked after the next train. Shortly thereafter, 1W84 phoned me, complaining about being held at red signal CJ201. There are two obvious problems here. First, 1W84 shouldn’t be phoning me from a signal whose name starts with CJ. Second, the Crewe Junction signaller obviously didn’t tell the truth when saying the line would be blocked after the next train; instead, (s)he blocked it immediately, holding the aforementioned next train.

The train phoning in is by design, or it's far too easy to keep a train stood for hours. The phone call message is an edge case, you've managed to do the call at the exact point the train is in the simulation, but won't receive an ACOA. "Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer Log in to reply |

I managed to cleverly break things! It really wasn’t a big deal once I figured out what was happening. I just thought I’d mention it so the possibility of a mismatch between the message and reality would be known, and perhaps logged in a ticket for fixing one of these days. Log in to reply |
