Loader version 4.6.12 Simulation Rugby SCC 3+4 (Centre) data version 1.3 Timetable Rugby SCC Centre 15-10-09 (0445) Starts at 10:00:00. Start with the simulation paused. ARS is enabled and there is no intervention from me. 6B62 is running in the down direction leaving Northampton. Immediately RY1052 prepares for clearing to the Up and Down Slow; as it is approach controlled for this route it doesn't actually clear. A moment later RY1044 actually clears to one yellow. If these signals are restored to red, a message appears in the message box that "Route cancelled for 2Y54 -- made non-ARS". In fact 2Y54 has long since arrived at Northampton platform 4 and has converted to 2Y63, the outgoing service. 2Y54 does not appear in the F2 train list and 2Y63 does. 2Y54 earlier arrived in platform 4 via the Up Main Line (not the U&DS) and was signalled automatically without intervention from me. One again I emphasise that this glitch is easily worked around; but I assume it is not wrong to report it ... ? Log in to reply |

I have been asked to keep further reports (of Northampton difficulties) in this thread. At 14:06 after the departure of 2Y10 platform 1 is clear. 5U32 is waiting at GPL 1222, intending to run to platform 1 for 1U32 to couple on arrival later. If 5U32 is now made ARS, then signal RY1036 clears to Up Main without any other intervention from me. There is no train approaching RY1036 that might have called it. If RY1036 is then reverted manually, 5U32 changes to non-ARS and right-click and "Is train ARS?" produces "5U32 is non-ARS". Log in to reply |

This may or may not explain some of the difficulties. I have a message box containing the following: Internal error: Exception in OneSecondLo (EAccessViolation: Access violation at address 005EC2AE in module 'SimSigLoader.exe'. Read of address 00000000) Log in to reply |

I should have waited a moment. The simulation continues after I clicked OK, but most of the ARS has gone awry. Several trains that are in ARS mode are approaching red signals that could clear, but don't. If I right click for Query ARS Routesetting Status, most of them say "Enough route set to Signal XYZ" where XYZ is a red they are closely approaching, with no reason not to clear. Some of them say "Approaching red automatic signal" again with no reason why the signal doesn't clear. ARS is showing as Active. I set some of the routes manually and the ARS seems to have come right 30 seconds later. Log in to reply |

The behaviour in the following post is probably because the access violation means that half the ARS code didn't get executed. Log in to reply |

I have examined the supplied save file in detail and can only conclude this is an old save. The evidence from the data therein is not consistent with V4.6.12 of the Loader as it is (a) missing data that always gets saved in ARS sims; (b) includes data that was obsolete a version or two ago. I recommend you start again. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

Earlier in the year I was reporting multiple problems with this simulation, and at that time many people rushed to suggest that I was wrong, intervening improperly etc etc. Evidently it was all my fault. I attach a screenshot showing the simulation version I am running. So far as starting again is concerned, you must see that I have now done that five or six times; every time a new version of the sim loader comes out, I have to start again to ensure a clean run, as there is no way of knowing whether the modification affects the Rugby Centre simulation or not. I came here now to report a further error, this time at Rugby station. To avoid muddying the water I will put it in a separate message. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

And now at Rugby itself. Demo29 1U36 has a fault and has been standing in platform 6 for some time; 4L68 is trapped in the Up Goods Loop until 1U36 can proceed. 4L22 and 4M44 have approached in the Up direction and have been standing waiting for 2Y16 to depart, which they will follow. 1M13, 1A47 and 2Y16 are ARS enabled but all the class 4 trains are not (except 4O28 approaching from Nuneaton, but it is some considerable distance away). 4L92 will appear shortly, also further away. 1M13 passes through platform 4 normally and the signals revert normally. At 16:32, 2Y16 gets TRTS and calls sig NR6000 which clears normally. 1A47 is approaching on the Up Main from Nuneaton, and signals have cleared for it up to a red at RN3364 which is showing "ready to clear". At 16:32:30 I get a rule 55 phone call from 4L22, which I acknowledge, and tell the driver to wait. 2Y16 starts to move away towards Northampton, and by now 1A47 is closely approaching the red signal RN3364, but at 16:33:30 signal RC6002 clears to platform 4 improperly. Nothing is approaching RC6002 and all this is without any intervention from me. If RC6002 is reverted to red and the local ARS subsystems reinstated, 1A47 calls RN3360 and the route through platform 4 successfully clears. All of this is without any intervention from me, apart from the telephone call from 4L22. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

Afterbrunel in post 107346 said:Evidently it was all my fault.I don't think anyone is saying it is your fault. However, as others are not reporting the same problems (and Barry M has run a test and reported back in this thread where your reported error which he booked onto the reporting system did not recur) then it is more likely that there is a problem either in your set up or in the way that you are operating the sim than that there is a generic SimSig problem. That is not saying it is your fault although it is saying that things may be different to the norm in either your system or the way that you run a sim. Perhaps you could start by taking us through the exact sequence of events in regard to the save that GeoffM has interrogated (which version of the loader when the sim was first loaded, which version of the loader for the posted save, are there any records in the log file found in the folder pointed to by your Folder Options to show the full history of that particular run, any error messages shown in the log etc. etc.) as Geoff's technical expertise has indicated that things are not quite as you reported them. Looking at things from a wider perspective, it is important to you that you have a properly working version of the sim but for the wider community it is more important that any generic bugs are identified and corrected so others will not face similar problems in future. This is not pointing a finger at you, it is trying to find the root cause of the problem. If you cannot accept any of that and are not prepared to join in the investigative process in an open manner then I am afraid that the appetite to help you will soon disappear and you will end up reporting bug after bug with no response from any other poster. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply The following users said thank you: Meld, JamesN, BarryM |
