If a train is routed into Matlock peak rail, it firstly refuses to set off from Matlock stating "awaiting right away".

If you authorise it past a signal at danger it then leaves the sim but fails to return the token.

I suspect the issue is with a hidden signal failing to clear in the background.

Awaiting right-away means the train is awaiting for the platform staff to give the train the all clear. This is basically the platform staff verifying that all the doors are clear and closed.

Some stations have electronic boards by the track at the end of the platform to give the drivers these signals such as RA for right away and CD for close doors. There are also stations which use hand or paddle signals operated by the platform staff. The trains would not depart unless they get one of these 2 methods as without these they would not know if everything was okay and that all the doors shut properly.

I understand that. From a sim point of view it normally means a train is ready to depart but the associated signal is still at danger.

Tested and confirmed. It calls in from signal MPRO, which will be a hidden signal; I get the same behaviour as you did when authorising it past.

From what i have seen in the sims myself this isn't necessarily the case, if it is then the train will call but as the signal appears to not be in your control you cant do anything.

I have had trains approaching their departure time when i set their route with the signal cleared minutes before departure time is scheduled. Even in this case at their departure time i experience about 30 seconds of waiting for right away as to say doors are closing and platform staff verifying.

I belive platform staff wouldnt get the doors closed if they knew that they couldnt depart yet with the signal at red. This helps explain the added delay of departing trains when the are ready to depart with TRTS triggered and you then set their route when they are due to depart.

The "waiting for right away" message is shown for about 30 seconds prior to the train leaving; as you say this represents the doors being closed etc. It will continue to show if the platform starter is at red.

This isn't really relevant to the topic at hand though, other than to show the train's status. The train should depart and return the token without signaller intervention (other than a phone call or perhaps two), it isn't doing and this is a simulation bug.

I had been working off the manual and what information of the status it said without access to a copy of the sim, thus describing what experience with the status i had. Without knowing how long was waited in the original post I went with the fail safe time of less than 2 minutes.

Thanks Steamer for getting in-game and confirming the behaviour that jc92 experienced. I was unlucky to be typing my post when you had posted and not having seen it.

Derby is freeware so you can just download it.

This used to work fine so something new just have broken it. Someone ought to log it on Mantis for Howard.

I don't have any storage space remaining on my main drive so I have all my Simsig content on my external drive. I did not have access to my drive at that time and hence had no access to the aim.
