Hi there, I'm currently playing Marylebone Version 3.9 on Loader V4.8.2. I'm playing the Marylebone Oct 15 SX (with other ops freight and LUL) timetable without any delays or disruption turned on and yet freight from Wolvercot Junction is losing a lot of time.

Looking at the train list, they appear to all be slowing to 15 mph for an appreciable length of time, immediately upon entering.

I can't think why this could be, any suggestions?

I've attached a save from about 55 seconds before 4M61A enters are Wolvercote Junction.

Is this to do with defensive driving rules present in this TT?

For the most part Defensive driving issue is fixed, it just currently uses the normal line speed to calculate it for all trains, in that where line speed is higher for say an EMU/DMU it does not use the EMU/DMU line speed for its calculations.

Having looked at the save and the defensive driving rules I belive that the cause is the Freight rule for appraching a red aspect as it has a max speed of 15mph, I suspect that the train is approching a red signal off panel and the train is behaving according to the rules.

One option to fix for the current session is go into defensive driving and select the driving tab, then select the freight rule and remove the rules that starts "Asp=R". then exit out of the TT editor (making sure you click any "Ok's" one the way). This part you only need to do for trains in sim before you have removed the rule, any that enter after you have edited the rule should not need doing, next go to F2 select 4M61A (using as example in this case) right click goto Timetable options and select Run to another TT you should select the next location just ahead of the train from the bottom drop down and them just click on run to TT. After a few seconds the train will start to speed up.

It would also be advisable to save the timetable so that if you ever start from scratch the rule should no longer be there to effect freight trains

That's very much what I was thinking, in fact, from my brief memory of playing the Oxford sim a little way back, I have a little hunch it may be connected with the AHB-X's on Oxford.

But obviously it's not correct or intentional behaviour.

For various reasons, I haven't really been paying too much attention to it, so I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure every freight train is affected and they're all about 8 late by Aynho Junction, improving to about 4 by the time they reach Fenny Compton. (Figures off the top of my head)

Many thanks for the tips by the way! :)

I'm honestly kind of happy letting it happen and using it to sub in for a small amount of disruption. I find running Marylebone on "normal" difficulty to be a bit crazy - or it was last time I tried it.

However, I thought it might be worth raising the issue.

The freight rules are indeed set to reduced speed approaching a red signal, but I can't ever recall observing spurious time loss during the testing of the timetable. I'd programmed the defensive driving rules of freight trains separately than the ATP rules, to suit reality. The testing of the timetable was made against real life examples, hence why there are a few trains with different formations. I'll do a quick run through and check again. Thanks for the tip.

The timetable is a really brilliant piece of work, by the way, I'm thoroughly enjoying my second play through of it. And it actually works with the updated Marylebone sim, which is marvellous. I don't really think the timetable is to blame, or at least, it might be a case of the timetable not matching with some update, feature or outright bug.

For the record the sim is also one of my absolute favourites and this small issue really doesn't detract from an incredibly enjoyable simulation.
