Has/will the sim be updated with an OHLE era option?

Thanks
Jamie

The first part I can answer: it has not been updated so far, it is still at version 4.3.7 from 2013.

There’s more to it than just enabling electrification - the electrification works came with a package of immunisation works and signalling alterations. SimSig quite apparently strives for a very high level of accuracy; thus any works to electrify SwinDid would rightly come with the necessary signalling alterations to the area.

As an insight into what has changed -

Swindon changed from a 2-man Panel to single Workstation.

Line between Swindon and Kemble doubled, several new signal sections inserted. Level Crossing Controls for Minety and Collins Lane altered.

Majority of track circuits on both the Didcot and Swindon desks converted to Axle Counters; track section breaks adjusted to bring overlaps and clearing points up to modern standards. Adjustments to approach control timings as a result of adjusted TC breaks.

Additional signal sections inserted between Wootton Bassett and Swindon.

New controls for reversible working.

Signals moved at Didcot Parkway plat 3/4/5 to enable a 12 car 387 to fit between the platform starting signals.

****

That’s not to say it won’t be done; but it requires more than just ticking a box to make the track electrified. The Dev team would need detailed info (scheme plans, control tables and so on) on all the above to attempt an electric version of SwinDid.
