At Pinhoe and Topsham you have Close Crossing but the normal crossing control ie Raise, Lower, Clear then Auto so what does the greyed out button marked Close Crossing mean please?

When it lights it's telling you to close the crossing.
"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

It's an instruction to close the crossing when a train is approaching on non-TC sections.

As it says in the manual
Quote:
A 'Close Crossing' indicator is provided at Pinhoe to let the signaller know when a Down train is approaching the crossing.
The overlaps for EJ26 and EJ27 extend into their respective single line sections. If two trains are passing at Topsham, the warner routes towards these signals should be used.
A "close crossing" indicator is provided for Down trains.

Though the latter could be clearer that it's referring to Topsham [fixed]

Thank you guys, just never really noticed it before as don't often play Exeter despite being one of my favourite areas to simulate!

Please note in this case that Exton station is inside the track circuit used by the 'close crossing' light, you should watch departure times at that station to avoid lowering too early.

Not forgetting that these days, Exton is a request stop, so in realiaty you'd have no idea if a train had called there or not, neither would you know if a train had departed there and waiting at your signal until you got a call.

Is there an event sound in the F3 menu that we can assign to this light coming on? It's easy to miss it if you are distracted elsewhere on the sim.

Not in sim at present, and from a realism perspective they don’t beep/buzz/bell in reality - but it wouldn’t be an impossible feature to implement. Feature request recorded on bug board under Mantis 22519.

It’s possible they might in reality beep, some of them on Cornwall have a buzzer on

Does anybody know of a list of request stops between Exmouth and Barnstaple and when they were implemented/withdrawn? Would be useful to amend TT's with the recent request stop enhancement...

In Zone 6, no one can hear you scream...

Between Barnstaple and Exeter, ALL stations are request stops these days, with the excepton of Eggesford (for token exchange) and Crediton. Not in the too distant past, Yeoford became a request stop if memory serves me correctly

Although it has been answered by pedroathome, there is a list on Wikipedia that has a list of Railway request stops in Great Britain this may prove useful for other timetablers

Having just spoken to the Exmouth Jn signaller (who’s a friend of myself and a number of other members here)

Topsham has a buzzer which sounds when a train is approaching in the up direction, buzzer sounds at the same time as the light Illuminates and CCTV monitor switches itself on. Down direction no buzzer.

Pinhoe has no buzzer/bell etc.

Not sure on dates but on the Exmouth line only Exton and Lympstone Commando are currently request stops.

Of course I was talking about Newcourt, which is not a request stop. My apologies for the confusion.
