Bit of a dafty thing asking, I should know but forgot...

I have a number of Northerns 195s & 331s on a sim timetable doing testing/mileage accumulations.
I have set these to not to depart early but have monitored there progress between Preston/Carnforth when I'm out and about. I've noticed that sometimes these 5Z** runs leave early than there booked time of departure this would be in SimSig as --d-- 'Set Down Only' I presume.
How would I get it so that if there was a available slot free that I could let if go ahead of departure?

Also Freightliner are driver training between Crewe/Preston/Warrington and visit Preston x4 during the night which I've seen last week. They seem only to stop change ends are go upon pressing SG 'waiting at signal' on the radio. This seems to be around 5mins in total. I Presume that I would have --d-- applied on the timetable then set a rule up for it not to leave until after 5mins?

1) If you set the 5Zxx's to set down only they will probably but not certainly be ready to depart after the appropriate dwell time; this may be the core code default (which does not necessarily work correctly) or a dwell time you have either put into the train TT (for a specific move) or the train type (for generic purposes). The train will ring waiting at R which gives it the option to ring back at due time but will then move forward as soon as you set the route if there is a suitable gap. Couple of caveats; every so often a "set-down only" train will wait for time at the whim of the core code and if you are running with ARS turned on for an appropriate sim the train may wait for time(ish) even if "set-down only" if the developer has put in a WFT (wait for time) instruction.

2) For the Freightliners, you wouldn't need a rule if you put a dwell time into the TT or train type. All you need to remember is that the dwell time clock doesn't start ticking down until any actions in the TT have been completed. As a side issue, it it was a crew change rather than a change of ends then that is an action in the TT and I think that delays the start of the dwell time countdown until the crew change is complete.

Thanks for that Postal.
I'm thinking of keeping all the 5Z** Trains for training runs as default. And run them to the timetable minus any running early etc. I tried Set Down Only and as you say with the core/dwell it only allows a few to go early after the rule is applied and ended.

As for the Freightliner Class 66 runs (Should of added). I watched them arrive, there was 3 crew onboard, one with a lot of paperwork it seemed. They all went from the lead cab upon arrival to the rear cab ready to head back south. This took a total of around 5mins.
I tried it with a rule and used --D-- Set Down Only and after 5mins they went on there way, but I might opt to use the dwell time of 5mins and class it as a Crew Change of sorts.

I saw a similar think with an IEP at Doncaster the other day. It was booked to stop on the down main for several minutes, but barrelled through at full speed
