Odd behaviour in DCS 19/02/2019 at 09:22 #115860

I'm playing Oxford - 1978 Weekdays V2.0 in the 2000 era on Loader 4.9. I'm sometimes getting strange behaviour in the DCS. A train will request permission to draw up to and obey OX127, that is granted but when the route to platform 1 is given, it just sits there and doesn't move. If I try to nudge it out by abandoning the timetable, it moves briefly but then reports "Stopped at signal DCS2A" (for instance). In the attached save, there are two of these on DCS2 and DCS3. I've played the older 1974 timetable two or three times without a problem. Does anyone know what is going on here, please?

Have you set the handpoints for the correct road for the train to depart? This is done by left- or right-clicking the white roundel.

I'm afraid you've encountered the simulation's "DCS bug" mentioned in the General tab of the instructions for the 1978 timetable (and others). By the way, I'm the timetable's writer, but don't have any influence over simulation bugs.

Bottom line, you can't have trains in DCS2 and DCS3 simultaneously and have them emerge again due to a longstanding simulation bug. Having one train in DCS1 and any one of DCS2-4 does work. Also note that it's possible to use the Down Goods or Down Main as locations for reversals, though I wouldn't advise blocking the Down Main unnecessarily.

Ref Oxford DCS, running the 1974 TT I currently have 5A86 in DCS2 waiting to cross to Pfm.1 then into the Up CS but it shows 'Held By Conditions'. The previous move like this (5A48) went without a hitch. I noticed that 5A86 had 'Berths Here' ticked for Oxford DCS so I unticked it to make its TT identical to 5A48 and ran the sim again from a previous save with the TT amended, but to no avail. Otherwise a great TT so far.

I've attached a save.

Regards,

Phil.
