IS there an undocumented ARS feature whereby an 'X' coded train cannot be ARS ? I have several such as 6X20 which refuse to ARS, yet if changed when running using F2 / edit to 6Q20 do ARS happily. These apply to 'special / odd' trains such as tubes train in transit from works (Rosyth - West Ruislip). Thoughts welcome Bill Log in to reply |

‘X’ explicitly prevents ARS. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_reporting_number Thanks Jamie Jamie S (JAMS) Log in to reply |

In the real world ARS is coded not to allow X trains to run under ARS, and SimSig replicates what the real ARS would do. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: bill_gensheet |

There are a number of reasons that trains have to be manually signalled: loading gauge, train length, timing are examples. Or more rarely, Route Availability, running in possession, or time sensitivity. In the real world the signaller would know the requirements and would make decisions which the ARS cannot (safely) do for these trains. Jamie S (JAMS) Log in to reply |

Mantis 17489. There are sims for which this rule doesn't make sense. In the future such sims will not have this rule, but this will be a per-sim rather than per-timetable rule. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: 9pN1SEAp |
