Unfortunately the booking for the Derby meet has had an unacceptable clause added by the venue which will make the booking liable to cancellation just four weeks out - some soccerball thing. We can't work on that basis so we need to make a decision PDQ on a guaranteed venue (or date) instead. On that basis, I've capped the registrations for the event until we've done this. Please keep an eye on this thread for updates. It may take a week or two. Apologies for this. It was out of our control unfortunately. Damn but as you said out of your control, I do hope you find alternative accommodation for the meet although I would like to ask if you can't find anywhere in Derby itself what happens next? Do you guys then have a backup location where the meet is instead? Obviously I know a lot does go into the meets so just wondered, appreciate the heads up though! Log in to reply |

Ideally we'll find somewhere in Derby on the same day - that is our aim. We know at least one already has non-cancellable bookings; possibly another too. I wonder if the roundhouse could provide any space at a reasonable rate if there's not already an event on. A shame as the brunswick is a nice pub but Derby isn't short of decent establishments. "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Log in to reply |

We have managed to find an alternative venue in Derby which is suitable for our needs. One of us will update the information later on today. Thanks to Karl's (headhot119) hard work we are now booked for the meet at: The Tap 1 Derwent Street, Derby DE1 2ED The Hold will be taken off the Registration Page for the meet soon so that people can continue to sign up (or cancel their registration if they don't want to go to The Tap). The Wiki page is currently being updated. There is not so much space as we enjoyed at The Brunswick so we have to keep a handle on how many are going to attend. If you sign up then are unable to attend, please take the time to cancel your registration. If you don't do that you may stop someone else from attending even if you are not there. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Last edited: 27/03/2019 at 09:18 by postal Reason: None given Log in to reply The following users said thank you: Hap, ajax103, HST125Scorton |

At this time in 4 weeks from now an intrepid party will be making their way in search of a curry after our meeting at The Tap. Although there is no charge for the meet it would be good if you could sign up here so that we have an indication of how many will be attending (and also how many will be on the curry trail). So far we have 19 people who have confirmed that they will attend so please add your name to the list if you wish to join us. If you haven't attended a meet before and think it might be OK but you are bit apprehensive about joining a roomful of strangers please do take the plunge. At the end of our previous meets those attending for the first usually have been surprised about how sociable and enjoyable a time they have had and how good it was to be able to put some faces to names. As a final note if you have previously signed up but are now unable to attend could you please go back to the registration page linked above and cancel your registration so we can keep track of what is happening. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Last edited: 29/06/2019 at 18:07 by postal Reason: None given Log in to reply |

based on EMT's strike action there's a good chance I'll look at driving rather than the train. is there suitable parking at the venue? if not can anyone suggest a location where I don't need to remortgage to afford the parking?

There are currently 20 signed up to join us at The Tap but room for more. The registration period ends at 00:00:00 on 25/07/19 and I'll be doing the admin things like printing the badges late on Friday 26th. If you want to join us but don't make the decision until after the registration closes (or have to cancel your registration at short notice), it would be good if you could PM me to let me know. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |
