Hi,

The CScot manual doesn't state what the revised platform Lengths are for the EGIP era.

I've got the info on the platform lengths, but I think when I mentioned it the issue was going to be getting access to the data regarding the new TC breaks. Also a wee bit of the point work has changed within the station.

Further more in the EGIP era there are significant changes to track layouts at Greenhill Upper and Larbert and quite a few signal changes throughout the sim, in particular at Dunblane.

As far as I know they have not changed yet in the sim as the platform lengthening is more recent.

Edit: Hap was earlier to post and more detailed.

Nothing has changed in sim since we had the blocked at QST.

The changes came into effect from August 2016.

Few pics below of the new layout at several locations.

P3 is now full 8 car, P2 is the same buffer line but only 6 or 7 car (Hap ?)

E-G services generally now 8 car, so must use P3 or P7
The end wall onto George Square has just opened up, but still temporary entrances from the west side, or sneak out the taxi road.

Low level access still via P2 or P7, not from outside.

The other platform extensions will not be done until September to keep capacity during August (locals back at work / tourists / Edinburgh festival)

Bill
Platform 2 - 171m can now accommodate a 7 car 380/385, along with 3,4 & 7.

Platform 3 - 196m can now accommodate an 8 car train formation in addition to platform 7.

So as it stands:

Platform 1: 4
Platform 2: 7
Platform 3: 8
Platform 4: 7
Platform 5: 6
Platform 6: 6
Platform 7: 8

I've not been in the station since the work has been done, so I haven't seen the layout now. I can only imagine 2 will be extended once there is enough space for it. i.e a route walking route to platform 1, and the barriers are taken back further once the front of the station is a bit more complete?

I'll do some more digging.

The Sim was updated with the revised platform lengths as they were anticipated at the time of EGIP era writing.

Just realised Bill, that you said same buffer line. (I've not been at work for about a month and not in QSt in about 2/3. Not been following my operation updates.

You mention these as the new lengths, but you mention three platforms, P2, P3, P4 but then state four lengths.

What are the Platform Lengths for all seven platforms in the EGIP era on the sim?

I wish to know as I have created a new 2019 timetable and whilst working out the stock working, I noticed the WTT has four car Class 385 which are 92m (some eight cars at 184m), and HST sets of five coaches that are 151m platform sharing with Class 158 two car units.

the sim doesn't work for 2019. I tried and 8 car 385's don't fit in the platforms.

There are no 5 car HST on the system at the moment. only 2x pc and 4 coaches. There's also no chance you'll see anything on top of a HST at qst as the required stopping point from the buffers is considerably further back than other units.

IF you do see something on Traksy, for example, that looks like an Aberdeen service in a platform, with another service ahead of it, then the likely hood that the Aberdeen/Inverness service is a DMU.

As it stands as of today...

1 takes 4 (2 x 2 car formation... extended by 21m)
2 takes 7 (171m)
3 takes 7 (196m)
4 takes 8 (196m)
5 takes 7 (171m)
6 takes 6
7 takes 8

That's what I have (should have said P2 to P5).
P1 might be wrong in the current release but is fixed for the next.
P6 and 7 should be 147 and 196 respectively.

Thank you for the local info. I noticed that some Aberdeen/Perth/Dundee services have a Class 170 on them.

The WTT that also mentions the platform numbers at Queen Street, actually has Class 158 working front train on top of HST, even a Class 385.

What I intend to do for now to get the timetable working, is reduce the Class 385 units to 3 car versions.

Just to be absolutely clear on this, with the exception of Platform 1 all the platforms in the current release have the EGIP platform lengths as stated above, so if you are waiting for the next release that's unlikely to change anything (other than P1).

I have builds ready for re-release for most of the McSims but was awaiting the Edinburgh loader to be finalised to do a mass release.

One thing I have discovered whilst running my new 2019 timetable, the EGIP on the sim does not allow electric traction in many areas that the EGIP is electrified. I have had to make all Class 385 units diesel.

In terms of signals, nothing has changed.

The platforms are located between 101m 75yds and 101m 238yds.

both platforms are 150m in length, They can both hold 6 car 380/385 formations.

Platform 1 - 3/4 car marker boards are located 49.9m from the platform end. 6 car is 4.5m from the end.
Platform 2 - 'S' car marker board is located 4.5m from the platform end for all formations.

Hi,

Could the manual be updated with the lengths for EGIP please? Or are they unchanged?

Thanks
