I finally worked out this is for the default 2007-2009 era, as it's unclear from the name and there's no description in F4.

You evidently didn't do as advised in the release thread:-

https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/ThreadView/49884

which was to read the manual before starting.

"2007-2009
This represents the maximum extent of the East Rail Line with the opening of the Lok Mau Chau branch at the northern end, meaning trains operate to two northern termini. This is the default era and is the one used with the supplied timetable."

Have adjusted the notes in my copy to include that info. Thanks.

It's a valid point as the timetable name doesn't confirm a year and the timetable notes don't confirm which era it should be played in which is a suggested inclusion with all timetables.

Indeed; I'll fix it at some point.

Is it an ARS issue or timetable issue that the ARS gives priority to empty trains (trains with "Txxx" code) over passenger trains?

I guess it is based on the timetable. Even the ARS will put International Trains (PXXX) before other local trains - sometimes when it is delayed the whole line was stuck in the game.

In reality, I think mainland through trains (Pxxx) does have priority over local services. There are even scheduled overtaking moves in Shatin. However, the control centre may postpone the overtaking move to Fo Tan or Tai Po if an up through train has a slight delay.

The F2 clip shows that the trains don't think they are the same location. You need to right click on each train in F2, find the "Edit Timetable" option, highlight the location where the join should take place and click on the "Set current/next location" button. They may start joining then automatically or you may need to give one a nudge ("shunt forward" from the right click menu) to start the join.

WARNING! All T8xx empty car movements going to their depot need to be run Non ARS mode from their start!

Does that also apply to Txxx code trains FROM their depot?

Other "issue": at approx. 05:30 T808 has priority over T806 (at Sha Tin) which just left the depot Ho Tung Lau. According to the TT T806 should have priority over T808.

This is one way to work around the issue (assuming it's a bug).

This one is actually mentioned in the manual:
Quote:
ARS is not good at handling trains that conflict with other trains that haven't yet entered. For example, in this timetable it will set a route for T808 (seeded at Sha Tin) towards Tai Wai even though T806 (due to enter from the depot) needs to go ahead of it. This is a "feature" of real ARS; the only solution is to be aware of these cases and hold the train back in some way (make it non-ARS or collar an appropriate signal).

No. They can run in ARS mode.

Unfortunately T808 is a seeded train and consequently ARS sets its route on start_up not knowing about T806.
Its best to keep these two trains in order otherwise there could be problems at the Terminus.

Could T808 be seeded as a dummy with a next working, that should sort the ARS out?

I don't believe ARS does that and there's no specific logic in the sim to do that. It's possible there are some errors in the data. I could do with a couple of saved games from just *before* it sets the route that I can investigate. You can email them directly to me; no need to take up space here.

What makes you say that? It may be worth keeping an eye on them until I figure out what the issue is, if any, but that seems an overly broad statement.

Have you a specific reason to point at trains going to depot? If so, which depot(s)?

If you can provide edits to the timetable that solve it I can look at integrating them.

Clive while testing, I did find that the Txxx trains affected where those heading to Ho Tung Lau Depot from locations north of the depot.

Perhaps we can seed T806 at Racecourse Platform 2 as it is not being used in the morning.

I'll try to do this tonight.

BTW I'm currently working on converting the E158WNX2 timetable (Oct, 2015, weekday timetable with Racecourse trains at nighttime) into a SimSig timetable for EAL.

Can the snapshot I uploaded in https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/ThreadView/49888?postId=118668 help? It should show the issue.

In this case, no, a picture doesn't help. I need a saved game from *just before* the route is set for the wrong train; I can then use that to test solutions.
