I set a route from signal 1522 to 1510 (into platform 3 at Sha Tin in the down direction). There was already a train in the platform when I did this. I did not set a calling on route (from the white arrow); this can be verified in the attached save by selecting automatic working (given that the calling on route does not have automatic working). Train H012 passed the signal to the headway board as expected. Now, I wasn't fully paying attention to what was going on after this, but what appears to have happened is that the train then continued (whether before or after the train in front left the station I can't say, I'm afraid) into the platform, found it couldn't go any further, and so performed a station stop. This was when the train was only partially in the platform. I realise this might largely be a core code issue, but it certainly doesn't seem very realistic that this would happen — I'd expect the train not to perform the station stop until it can be fully accommodated in the platform. A save is attached showing the aftermath (with the train stopped partially in the platform and having sent a TRTS). Post has attachments. Log in to view them. you can force a train to only accept an exact location stop using NX or FX stopping points.

Ah, cool! Might make sense to do this in the default timetable for all trains since I'd imagine this would otherwise be a common problem with this sim (given presumably the idea is for trains regularly to follow each other closely like this on the ATO).
