OK...knowing that I will probably be shot at dawn if I ask a question about future sims here goes.
I chained two Sims last night for the first time just to see how it was done. Kings Cross and Peterborough....and it worked (should never have doubted that it wouldn't). When I wished to connect to another box Doncaster came up as one of the options. Logical for future developemnt I thought. Now when I open the Sim Sig web page there is a picture of what looks like the Doncaster panel...mmmm is that a subtle hint from the developers....yes...no...anyway could I ask if it could be put onto the simualtion wish list or is there some reason why it could or should not be.

(If you don't ask then you don't get)

there are a lot of other things on the go at the minute, so IF it was to be made it would be years away. but doncaster would be a good sim i agree....

northroad,

take a look at this

But yeah Doncaster would be good as it would be chainable with P'boro so you have KingsX -> P'boro -> Doncaster / Doncaster -> P'boro -> KingsX chained up covering the Southern part of the ECML.

However it should be warned that "Due to conflicts of interest it is not possible for Geoff to work on" a York sim (including Leeds).

Hope this helps.

UKTrainman,
I thought that might be the case. I saw the article covering the York side of things in Rail or was it Railway Magazine....great insight into the panel and those working it.
It would seem a shame if the facility to chain to Doncaster created in the Peterb sim was not used though.

Not to mention Donny - Sheffield - Trent (and - Derby - Saltley when those are finished).

This has confused me a couple of times. Does this mean that ONLY Geoff can not work on it? so therefore Clive for example could? or does it mean we can't put a modern day version into SimSig in general?

But if the information could be got then pre-IECC York & Leeds sims ought to be possible, unless parts of the Leeds layout were recontrolled rather than resignalled & thus ruled out. Of course if doing pre-IECC York there would also be the possibility of Thirsk (the first ever UK routesetting panel) and Northallerton (the first fully-mature OCS panel). Somehow I can't see them being Simsigged as OCS panels though.

It's only a personal opinion. but I find it so boring that people keep asking the same questions (particular or generic) time and time again and other people keep giving the same answers.

If any of the developers want to create a sim, then they will get on and do it (and may already be doing items in the wish list for all we know). If none of the developers fancy an area then the sim won't be created.

Let's just leave the people who do the real work to get on with it and be glad when they come up with another new sim for us to enjoy.

Shot at dawn? I don't think so! I don't do mornings.

If a simulation pre-dates a TRESIM, or uses a pre-resignalled layout (not a re-control) then that is ok to do. Quoting the York/Leeds examples, not much was resignalled there, mostly Leeds and York stations, the rest just recontrolled from the IECC. In that situation I wouldn't be happy unless the developer was able to prove that all the necessary information came from another source. My stance has changed over the last year or so from a blanket "no" to a "prove it", but that does not imply that you'll ever see another IECC SimSig.

People did read too much into the Doncaster picture on the front page. We do have lots of information for Doncaster and also lots of other areas which are keeping the developers busy.

Geoff and all,
Thank you for the responses and sorry guys if I raised a thread about Doncaster again when it had already been raised. In my defence the previous request re Doncaster started in a topic/thread about the new Website which I missed. I can understand the irritation caused by something being repeated constantly but it only goes to show how good the Sim Sig product is and the users craving for more.

Not wanting to unduly whet anyone's appetite, but the now closed Leeds PSB can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTeNmYRx3KE .

The panel is in almost original condition here. The Viaduct line that the London trains used to take had already been truncated 2 years previously. As Geoff said, much of the infrastructure is still in place now from the time that Leeds PSB was commissioned in the late 1960s. Many of the signals are still plated 'L' . One big difference is that the current day installation has ARS.

We all have to be patient for Doncaster. I provided extensive information regarding Doncaster PSB almost 3 or 4 years ago, so you can understand the backlog

There is a section of the Forum called "Simulation Wish List" which is where this posting properly belongs. If you go into that section you will see that the idea of a Doncaster has already been discussed at length here.

As John says this is a "Wish list" so no one should ever be shot down in flames for adding to it or expressing a view. Just don't necessarily expect any official response.
