I left my computer at about 12:10 to go downstairs to watch the Daily Politics programme and I forgot to pause the sim :/ Haven't continued with it though, just deleted lots of saves which are now in the recycle bin. ... I did download his save, but haven't got round to running it. I have recovered (from the recycle Bin) the game depicted in the photos and will see what happens when I continue playing it. Should be fun Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

I do this quite often. Last Sunday I managed to leave LTS running from about 1300 to 1800. ARS was handling classes 1 and 2 but there are enough freights, ECS and weedkiller trains to stop the job. I run it through to the end of the TT without any cancellations or turning short. The last train reached Shoeburyness at about 0300. I fairly often do this deliberately. I start the TT at midnight and run it until all of the previous days ECS are in bed, then I speed it up and leave it until somewhere between 5 and 8am, depending on the timetable. I then try to run the service the best I can from then on. I think the most interesting, and trickiest, is the Carlisle 1979 TT with ECML diversions. Lots of loco changes, joins and splits, with effective rules. Sometimes a portion of train or a pilot engine will appear hours late as rules are implemented to ensure that shunts are in the right order, so cannot use a loco or stock that hasn't arrived (then gone off-sim into a siding/yard) yet. Great fun! Last edited: 13/02/2020 at 23:21 by trolleybus Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Brilliant! Just imagine the announcement at New Street "I'm sorry to announce that the 12:30 Cross Country service to Newcastle is delayed, due to the signaller watching the Daily Politics. Please listen for further announcements" Log in to reply The following users said thank you: Stephen Fulcher, JWNoctis, Gwasanaethau |

Now there's a thought. Leave a sim running unattended for a little while, then go back to it and sort out the problems. Might give it a try one day, with one of the simpler simulations to start with. Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

It's exceptionally fun to try and recover from that kind of thing, but to do it with the Carlisle 80s timetable is masochism - so many moves rely on other moves, even wrong-dropping an on-time train into a platform other than where it's booked can stuff you up for hours. Running it with 3 hour delays is true madness

Could try the same with Vince's excellent Exeter early-80s summer 5-day timetable, where a single 30min delay by a (loco-hauled!) train from Barnstaple an hour earlier was enough to cause a bit of a scramble at Exeter at around 2100, with - in this instance - one loco change for said train, one ECS from west yard to platform at first occupied by said loco change, one through train, both up platforms occupied, another class-6 right behind from Meldon going up the incline and needing a banker, and yet another local from Exmouth held at Central waiting for platform. All this happened more or less at the same time, and that's still within the realm of normal operation. ...I'd expect Hackney Yard to lock up long before it gets to this point though, if you leave that unattended for long in this TT. I literally woke up this morning thinking of Max and his multi-coloured stickies! Such a strange coincidence!

Is there a thread relating to the Max Anderson save? I've tried it twice, it's not recoverable to any degree of normality. Derby's double block signalling and choke point of the station just cripple things!

Other than where it came from? -> https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/ThreadView/39707 A more realistic goal would be getting a positive score by end of service...I'm yet to achieve that. God rest his soul. Log in to reply |

You did better than me, still impressive. Similar position on the Matlock branch for me too. Final score 4102 out of 27537, 15%. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. 20 years of Simsigging Last edited: 13/04/2020 at 12:12 by markt Reason: None given Log in to reply |
