I sometimes wonder how people come to use their particular User names. Mine for example (bugsy) is an old secondary school nickname, which was given to me by friends who played around with various "sounds like" terms based on an abbreviation of my surname. I’d be interested to hear how others arrived at theirs. Anyone game? Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

My nickname is 'Happy' or 'Hap', given to me after a certain film came out staring Adam Sandler and a golf theme. My surname matches the title of the film.

interesting thread, great though. mine comes from a station controller at london bridge who when i started working on the southern side (then platfrom 8 to 16) in 2008 he couldnt remember my name and was a huge only fools and horses fan so he named me Rodney (you can guess what my real name is). 30 was the age i was when i found this wonderful website and simulations. My name Sünöcske comes from when I was a kid and I had very short hair, and the word itself means 'small hedgehog' in Hungarian. Now I have very long (about 50 cm) hair, but I kept the nickname, because I'm a kid inside forever

My Username came along one random evening back in 2010, HST125Scorton, HST - High Speed Train 125 - Max High Speed Trains in UK, I could change.. Mine is a pure co-coincidence that it is shared with a Class 50, when I was in the 6th form learning web coding and website design I needed a name to use so the first two letters are my initials with ax added to round it off. Also co-coincidence that it was shared with a cleaning chemical that was used by my employer at the time.... Log in to reply |

I chose mine because I live in a flat in what was a former station house next door to Ambergate station in Derbyshire. It is now a single platform on the branch to Matlock, but until Dr Beeching stuck his oar in, it was a triangular station at the junction of the Midland Main Lines to Leeds and Manchester. It does of course figure prominently in the Derby PSB simulation.

GESWEDEY Although I started on the GN at Kings Cross in 1979 from 1985 I spent most of my career until I retired in Aug 2019 from Romford ROC on the Great Eastern AT Ilford, Romford Twice and Liverpool Street. Living in London and spending a lot of my summers in Dublin, I frequently travelled along the A55 up on the northern coast of Wales. Sometimes, it was the M4 along the southern edge. As anybody who has spent more than 5 minutes in a car (or supermarket, it seems) in Wales can attest, my username is kinda ubiquitous. Got so used to seeing it that when the era of the Internetz came along I just had to use it for something. I used to have an email address with the same name – got fed up trying to dictate it over the phone to people, though!

"Perenza" is a nickbame given to me in elementary school, which is a distortion of my surname, and I added "El" just because it was cool.
