Hello All, I have just returned to Simsig after several years in the wilderness and have used the loader/updater but most of the sims now do not have timetables. How do I correct this please? Regards Cmoseng Log in to reply |

is your loader saying it is V4.15.1 ? Should be, that is current. Very old loaders will need a full reinstallation. A second 'check for updates' may help. You should get all sims and all timetables even without a purchase. Some sims only have one supplied timetable (Aston) others lots (Cardiff has 14) What are 'folder options' set as ? Have a look there with explorer and see if you have got timetables in the location given, or are they elsewhere ? The exact path to the 'common location' depends on Windows versions, but once at a Simsig folder (Win7 is C:\Users\Public\Documents\SimSig) you should find a 'simulations' folder and a 'timetables' folder, each with subfolders for each sim. Are you trying to pick up old timetables (ie wtt/wtr pairs) ? If so these are no longer valid, currently timetables are a single .wtt file. You can recover them by importing rather than opening. Hope this helps, Bill Log in to reply |

Hello Bill, Thanks for the reply. The loader version is V4.15.1. I suspect that I have stuffed the system up. My C: drive has become very full and I tried to redirect the Simsig folders to a G: drive. I am not sure how the folder options work. What does the CSIDL prefix mean /do? You are probably on the right track. Simsig is quite unforgiving in where its' files go, and a G:\ drive comes into asking for trouble ! CSIDL is a windows name (constant special item ID list) that roughly means 'the place we fancy putting files' and does means different paths for each version. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/shell/csidl For me (on Win7) [CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS] is C:\Users\Public\Documents regards Bill Log in to reply |

Bill, I read the wiki on the subject of alternative file locations but I do not understand what the structure really looks like. Does it mean that the structure is for example (Say for me): G:\Simsig #Here is the loader etc G:\Simsig\Sims #Here is Sim1.sim, Sim2.Sim G:\Simsig\Sims\SavedGames #Here is snapshots, saved games etc G:\Simsig\Tables #Herte are the timetables Regards Cmoseng Log in to reply |

cmosEng in post 125366 said:Bill,If you have that structure then nothing will work, installation will provide the correct file structure for the loader to read where all the sims, timetables are etc. I very strongly suggest that you uninstall everything, and if you want SimSig on your G: drive just install to G:\ This will give you G:\SimSig - for the loader and other 'Core' files G:\SimSig\Simulations - All simulations will go into this folder plus a folder for each simulation where splash screens and snapshots/saves go G:\SimSig\Timetables - Every sim has its own folder in here into which the timetables go Everything should then work as required Passed the age to be doing 'Spoon Feeding' !!! There is also the somewhat obscure but still supported Windows feature to redirect the complete "Users" folder onto another drive. Software using CSIDL or the respective environment variables or something comparable will automagically get the correct path (D:\Users\... in my case) from Windows, whereas programs that have hardcoded C:\ would run into trouble there.
