I've noticed since an update applied today (unsure of it's release date) that the stations scrollbar per entering locations in the list is processing typed selections differently. For example, previously if I typed "Birmingham N" then Birmingham New Street would be selected. Now, if I type anything beyond the first letter it jumps to a completely different station. I can type by touch alone, and having to click, scroll down, and select a station adds *alot* of time when entering many stations/trains (am currently constructing a May 2020 timetable for the Birmingham New Street sim). I've noticed the same effect per train type selection too. I have no idea if this is replicated across other sims, but I hope it's a bug and not by design. I did consider entering the data by means of a CSV format spreadsheet, but looking at that I doubt it'd suit my processing style (I'm autistic). The timetable editor also provides a validation function which spreadsheet entry does not. Any input appreciated, thanks. I am more surprised you have found this to be recent, as I thought it had always been like this. I have just checked an .exe sim, and it operates as you describe. I also agree it is not ideal as some sims have a lot of places beginning with the same letter (Motherwell springs to mind, so many C, G and M !) I would however suggest that, particularly for modern timetables, use the duplication feature rather than typing in all the trains one by one. Even going back to edit a few times / TD's here and there I find it far faster. Bill Log in to reply |

Still works normally for me, though I have always found you need to type very quickly - it's all to easy to leave the slightest pause only to find the list is now chasing your last keystroke!

Yes, typing quickly usually works, I can get up to 3 characters if I forward plan. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

I haven't noticed a change, though I echo previous comments that you have to be fast typing, and I never generally get more than a few characters. Remember you can also use the up/down keyboard arrows. For example, to select the 'Birmingham New Street' location, it's faster to type 'BO', which selects 'Bordsley', then press the up key to select 'Birmingham New Street'. First, all of these inputs are part of the core code. The core code gets a list of locations from the simulation data to populate the list, but it's the core code that does the work. Second, the core code uses standard Windows or Delphi tools. So things like typing into the list to select an item are done by Windows itself. It may be there's some hidden Windows option to change the behaviour or, even, that there's a bug that affects the behaviour. Third, you said you'd had an update, but was that the sim? I don't recall a recent core code update. Log in to reply |

Check the double click speed in Control Panel. I believe that's where Windows gets its key press interval from. Odd, I know. Certainly nothing changed in SimSig to affect that.
