PEOPLE OF SIMSIG!!!!!!!!!!

Following the extremely successful 24 hour "Mega Chain" in lieu of the Peterborough Meet, and the later "Lockdown full shift host", "Manchester May Day Mega chain" , and the “North East madness Mega Chain” the team have made arrangements to put on another mega chain game as a replacement for the cancelled Edinburgh meet.

The world is hopefully showing signs of returning slowly back to normal, so this might be the last in the series of the “lockdown” games, so we’re going out with a bang.

Giving us up to 18 potential panels available publicly this is another diverse chain, encompassing a mixture of the entire Merseyrail DC network, the Wales & Borders hub, an arm of the WCML and a diverse mix of Northern services across the area.

Commencing 10:00 on the 04/07/2020 we will set off on an 8-10 hour session, encompassing the back half of the night shift, and the start of the early shift.

The following sims will be in use:-
Chester New Simulation coming before the game!
Cheshire Lines New Simulation coming before the game!
Sandhills
Edge Hill
Huyton
Hunts Cross
North Wales Coast (No AB turned on)
North East Wales
Warrington PSB *See Below!!!
Wigan Wallgate *See Below!!!

* Warrington and Wigan
These two simulations are moving towards release, they won’t reach the final stage of testing till after this game, but we are using the opportunity to test various chain combinations. We are hoping to live stream via twitch the two sims so people can see what’s happening. These two simulations will be manned by members of the testing team throughout the session and won’t be open to the public
Timetable

2015 TT; Starting 0400 with possessions and then we plan to follow a number of planned scenarios which will be randomly selected from the wheel of randomness including but not limited to SPAD incident, fire alarm, broken rail, ESR, Cows on the line
<<TradeMark - Wheel of Randomness is based on the game "what aspect will I see next on an austalian sim" where randomness is certainly guaranteed..>>

How to sign up
We have split the session down into two hour chunks available in the upcoming games window, please use these to sign up for the times at which you can commit to the full two hours. This will allows us to staff the sims as appropriate.

In Game Communication
Will be via TeamSpeak, you don't need access to a microphone, or to speakers, but both of these would help if you have them. F10 will not be used

Panel Allocations
We will issue a spreadsheeet of panel allocations prior to the start of the session, which will be updated as we continue.

Hosts
We have made special arrangements to provide continuous hosting throughout the period. We don't at the moment need any further volunteers.

The Roster

Is now published - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10fG5SrKjPDGZxwac_0751h91xdDS2Y9Vf1Hrgh2lYI8/edit?usp=sharing

If you are wishing to take part on a panel for Chester and Cheshire lines these will be priced at £20 and £10 respectively. Don’t forget you can use MULTIBUY to get a 15% discount when buying both together. The roster section will do their best to fit people in so every get’s a go on the new sims.

** If you can not turn up please try to let us know so we can re-allocate you panel
** Should you fail to turn up for a session start time we will reallocate your panel; for future sessions in this game you will be marked as provisional where you will be on standby for a panel.

I wonder if the people of Cheshire and Flintshire would want to be associated with Merseyside? :D

Note for the Roster clerk: can I avoid Chester and Cheshire in favour of those buying it as I've been testing them, however I'm more than happy to operate Warrington as I've been working on that too. Can I also avoid sandhills if possible as its really not my cup of tea.

Also thank you to Alan and Co hostings for arranging another one of these sessions.

Out of interest - and not to spoil any surprises - how big is the Warrington PSB sim going to be? Suitable for one person or a bit of a bigger sim?

I gather from here that Wigan Wallgate will be a nice little sim? https://photos.signalling.org/picture?/22871/category/2501-may_2016

Looking forward to the host - always good fun!

Believe Warrington has 4 panels off the top of my head, Although I'm certainly looking forward to the mentioned sims been released. Wallgate is a nice little box, Warrington always know for holding freight services for no other reason haha..

I think best thing to say is wait and see.
Warrington is possible with 1 person, but it definitely depends on the amount of crossover moves at Wigan NW

Wigan Wallgate should be a nice small sim yes but you'll have to wait and see what its actually like

Yep, have no problem at all with waiting and seeing! Great to see sims being released again - and so many in a relatively short space of time too. Thanks to the developers, as always!

I will look forward to this and will be sure to download the new sims. Interestingly the road-over-rail bridge at Northenden Junction is a mere 460 yards from my employer's Manchester HQ so I have gone past there a couple of times.

Approximate postcode M22 4RW for anyone interested: that will take you very close by the junction. Box is a tall one next to a bridge.

Does Warrington cover Bryn and Garswood stations and chain with Huyton/St Helens? (Garswood was my home station growing up).

You'll just have to wait and see on the day. :-)

I assume this means Cheshire and Chester will be released before July 4th?

Edit: Duh, it says that in the first post, can't read.

Just a speculative observation on my part, nothing more, but, in addition to chaining with Warrington at Wigan Station Jn, a Wigan Wallgate sim would make sense to take in the Wigan - Southport line to chain with Sandhills IECC, and also the branch to Rainford and Kirkby.

We'll just have to wait and see!

Everything in the mega game will chain together, in order to do this and to make as much captive as possible we added the "in development" sims to the chain as well.

Manchester area has not been added as we did this area a few weeks back but the 2015 TT set will work from Newcastle to Holyhead.

Fingers crossed Preston won't be too far down the line if Warrington is in late stages of development!

Any chance, I could have a Chester Panel, I've been waiting for this for a long time! (Not sure if your taking preferred panels but if you are Chester Please I've signed up for 12 Pm Till the end so could be on any of the last 3 :))

This is amazing news, we can now cover almost the entirety of the north-west plus the entire route of the TFW Premier expresses from Cardiff to manchester!

(plus with Crow Nest Junction from blockpostsoftware soon to appear think I need to get saving!!)

As per the other Mega sessions, panels will be allocated based on who has signed up and what sims they own. I'm sure the roster department will keep in mind any requests that has been made (not an invitation for everyone to start pouring in requests please), but please bare in mind that not all can be accommodated to ensure fairness and equality to other users based on the sessions that they have signed up for. :)

The team know they sims people have and people will be allocated appropriately and fairly as mentioned above :).

I’ve also purchased a new toaster after the MOM destroyed my old one after my last shift at Edgeley No2 - my grievance with management still hasn’t been responded to....

The Cheshire sim is tempting, but would be absolutely compulsory if it had a mode 1970s/1980 when the route was so much busier than today. Is it worth saving some beer money up?

Warrington and Preston PSBs are VERY likely purchases with a view to 1970s timetables. Two of the great NX panels from the 1970-74 Crewe-Glasgow electrification project.

Thanks to all who've been working and testing the new Sims.

Looking at the screenshots posted earlier, there is definitely a pre-Metrolink era for Mid-Cheshire

Yes, I can see that, but it looks like the arrangement from the very late 1980s. No lines from Skelton Jn to Glazebrook or Arpley, nor the branch from Mouldsworth to Helsby West Cheshire Jn.

Anyway, spent some more money on beer this afternoon (Wye Valley HPA - recommended), so the purchase fund is slightly depleted!
