I was just about to a query why a crew change at Peterborough was cancelled when I diverted a train from platform 4 to platform 5, but when I re-ran the sim from an earlier save to check it, the crew change went ahead as scheduled.

So, I have just learnt that you can’t necessarily replicate a given scenario by re-running a sim from an earlier save. Come to think of it, this has happened before, but I didn't think too much of it.

I'm confused. a crew change is part of the timetable NOT a scenario. the trains appear to have identical UID's so it should always have a crew change booked.

Side note - you are correct however - the same delays and failures won't occur on the rerun of a save file and will be randomly generated with each play through.

What message did you receive about a cancellation of a crew change? I don't recall it doing that without user intervention.

Just to note, when the crew change is complete, the activity will be removed.

The thing with crew changes though is that you might have already received a phone call about it, but since subsequent save file don't include that fact, the core code rolls the dice again when you reload that save, even if the result might contradict the earlier phone call (which is still noted in the incident log for that matter).

I didn't receive any messages Geoff. The Timetable window was just different when I clicked on the train TD to see how the crew change was progressing, although I could have just kept an eye on the Train List instead, but that didn't show the crew change either.
When I re-ran from an earlier save, everything just happened correctly.

What time was all this happening? The crew change may already have completed.

It really would be helpful if a .SSG was provided so that we can see or even try to reproduce what you are experiencing, even if there isn't a problem/bug/issue/gremlins....

I think Geoff and postal have hit the nail on the head. the train will have crew changed and you probably looked at the TT and noticed the activity was gone. You've then rerun the save and the activity was there as normal.

OK. I have attached 3 saves for you to choose from.
The snapshot that I re-ran and which didn't replicate the problem was the 01:10 one. I don't know what will happen if you run either of the other 2.

Best of luck

Another odd thing is that I also got 5 notifications of the crew change in the Incident Report window.
I thought that this was odd.

The First notification would of been based on the Timetable of the train when it first came in, the next 2 would be the result of timetable changes that you had made as it would reset the the crew change phone call, the last 2 are an idication that the train arrived at peterborough and the crew change has finnished.

Right, so it was already underway and when you looked again, it was complete.

I can't believe that I have actually done that. If that's what has truly happened then I must be going mad. And in that case I can only apologise for wasting everyone's time.
I'm really cracking up
