Apologies if it sounds wrong but that's how I thought it was done?I'm currently playing the 1993 timetable and I've observed something that I don't understand when setting a specific route at Edinburgh itself.Platform 17 is an odd on and I am not sure why it does it, but if you click on E483 to signal E495 or E497 or E499 (missing out Signal E485) you then get Proceed aspectcs on the main signal not the shunt. As for Redford Jn run rounds, I'd imagine that you have to leave the wagons on the loop and not on the mainline. It not Permissive. I have a question. Whilst playing the Edinburgh August 2006 timetable it seems that the driver of virtually every class 6 train that occupies one of the loops (up and down) between Prestonpans and Grantshouse, phones to say that his train is waiting at a red signal. Invariably each train has a booked departure time from the loop, which I would have thought was for a specific reason, i.e. to hold because there is a faster train which is going to pass. I appreciate that there are times when you could allow an early departure because you could divert into another loop, but if there are no loops into which you could divert, you could foul things up further up/down the route. My question is this. In real life, would drivers phone the signaller to ask for an early departure, or would they sit and wait for the booked departure time, which I presume they are aware of, and perhaps pass the time of day with a cup of tea which they might have in a flask, or wouldn’t tea drinking be allowed. Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

I feel like it's more the driver advising you that they will go early if you signal them to go, in SimSig speak

If you try it you'll notice that E485 comes off, it certainly doesn't remain on and the driver won't be passing it at danger. It's just a quirk of the routesetting arrangements, a bit like the way you never route up to and then from a running shunt signal, you always route to the next signal or exit arrow and the shunt clears first. Ordinarily you would have to set both parts of the route E483-E485, E485-E495/7/9, it's just in this case there's something different. Probably it reflects the arrangement of the old NX panel and I would presume it was done for efficiency or perhaps so you don't forget to set both halves of the route. You can imagine someone trying to set E483-E495 and then thinking, oh dammit, I forgot E485 and having to start again. Then you can imagine someone else thinking, well you always have to have E485 off to get a main aspect on E483, why don't we just have it clear automatically when a route is set from E483 to E495/7/9 Log in to reply |

That does also create the opportunity for a Mexican with 6G30 thanks Bill Log in to reply The following user said thank you: ajax103 |
