Hi all,

Is there likely to be any progress in the near future regarding the outstanding issues on the Derby sim, some of which, I believe have been outstanding for a long while? I'm aware of the situation regarding the developer of Derby also that paid sims will understandably get priority

The issues I refer to are those more applicable to historic timetables e.g. trains do not enter at Denby, "stepping" issues concerning the Coalville line, odd behaviour in the GFs at Sinfin, and, if memory serves, some issues concerning the Wetmore interlocking area. I'm sure those with Mantis access will be able to find them.

I have had the intention of writing an historic timetable for Derby for a number of years but until the outstanding issues are fixed, there appears to be little point in so doing.

It's unlikely that any work would be undertaken in the near future.

There are 24 issues outstanding in Mantis for Derby. I'll PM you directly, Vince, to see if there is a compromise of only the critical tickets being done soon and the lesser ones later.

I did start writing a Derby 1987-1988 timetable some time back when Howard was last dealing with it & Derbybest was in contact with me at the same time talking about issues around Burton On Trent (IIRC correctly problems ding being able to send locos on & off the TMD at Burton). The main problem I had with the sim is sorting out the issues on the Coalville line. Most of the issues if not all of them were to do with missing paths. One in particular was a problem where you couldn;t TT a loco off Coalville LHS to go towards Batdon Hill as there were no paths between signals. Not too sure if this was ever fixed prior to Howard leaving & ing & prior to Derbybest sadly passing away. AFAIK there are still a handful of issues preventing a BR era timetable to be written & work properly without having to add in some variety to the movements in order for it to work instead of it working prototypically. I'll have to see over the weekend if I can be more specific. But the one regarding loco movements at Coalville LHS was definately one of mine as looks quite simple on the panel, but in reality if the TT data won't validate then it becones an imposssibility to do.
I'd have to look through MANTIS & that's not something I've done since the begining of April.

For the benefit of the public tape, I've narrowed this down to 6 critical tickets for the 1992 timetable to function as it's currently written without manual intervention.
