Trains are reversing on the goods line to the west of Didcot . Those from the east are accepting the GL without a problem but those from the west ( 3P38, 3P79, 3P80 ) need the “Can use freight lines” checked. Thinking about the reason for this it occurred to me that 5 class trains (from the east) readily accept goods lines but those from the west (3P) can’t. Sounds like a change to the core code is needed as class 3 and class 5 trains are essentially the same except for priority Last edited: 16/08/2020 at 07:53 by Airvan00 Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Compare the default Class of Service rules: For Class 3 trains that don't have "Use freight linespeeds" ticked, if they use any of EPS-E, EPS-D, HST, EMU, DMU, SP (sprinter), TGV (Cl.373), Metro, WES (Cl.442) or Steam speed classes they are classified as "Passenger", otherwise they're ECS trains instead. I have a feeling this might indeed be a bug - if anything, the reverse would make more sense: Trains using any of the above speed classes are most likely pure passenger stock and therefore running as ECS if they're a class 3, whereas anything else is likely loco-hauled stock that could conceivably be a parcels train (when they still used to run). (Edit: Mantis 31362) In any case, for the timetable the correct short-term solution isn't ticking the "Use freight linespeeds" checkbox, because that'd cause those trains to be classified as "Goods", which isn't what you want. Instead, either create a custom COS rule that makes all Class 3 trains running at passenger speeds "ECS" (since you don't have to worry about parcels trains anymore), or override the COS choice on each train's individual timetable. Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.
