The ECML is quite a large place, do you have a particular area in mind?

And very nice they are too. We love them

You've also got NE Scot (payware) which covers the northernmost part of the ECML

I've seen it used in dog related meme videos. But it's definitely edible over here too.

Thank you for your help sorry should have been more precise, as a rail worker in the south side of the ECML - I suppose it would be useful to get my hands on from Peterborough/Stoke South to Kings Cross! Please

Take a look at the Installation Guide to get the simulations installed: https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Wiki/Show?page=usertrack:install and also the 'Starting a Simulation' page: https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Wiki/Show?page=usertrack:ssrun:simrun0

You should also have a browse of the relevant simulation manual: https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Wiki/Show?page=simulations:

I would strongly advise starting with a smaller simulation than either Peterborough or Kings Cross to get the hang of SimSig. Of the two, Peterborough is easier and has ARS to help you out if you need it. King's Cross shouldn't be attempted until you've got some experience.

Both of those are free, so that shouldn't be an issue - just be aware that Kings Cross doesn't have ARS, so playing it on your own is a hefty challenge... Peterborough is doable in singleplayer.

If you're just starting out, I'd recommend smaller sims, for example Aston, Royston or even the LUL Victoria Line - they're perfect for learning how the sims work, and the basic methods of working.

For Kings Cross, I'd keep an eye out for multiplayer sims, which appear occasionally

Bit off topic but I wouldn't really recommend LUL Victoria line for learning how sims work because the old LUL Victoria line signalling was very unusual and SimSig's interpretation of it makes for a very non-standard simulation that certainly wouldn't be the one that I would recommend for learning the ropes.

Thank you all for your help i did find the ones I'm after, Kgx is a nightmare to do by myself but I'm definitely confident and got to grips with the simulation itself now moving onto trying out other panels and different timetables

A few other users have suggested my Kings Cross 1964 (passenger only) timetable was a way to get into Kings Cross as a single player. It is in user downloads.

Do note it is the 1964 train times operated in a 2000 manner - not many loco changes but also a lot less clockface working. Up to you what you visualise the trains as, fleets of blue pullmans, push-pull deltics, or 309's....
