Wrong Regulation From Reading? 01/09/2020 at 08:31 #131164

I’ve started two games on the Swindon A/B map (first one abandoned due to so many failures I tied myself in knots...). On both occasions 7C23 has come down the Main from Reading smack bang in front of 1C62. Definitely an “OB” on the Trust Delay Attribution there, not to mention biscuits, tea and a chat with the Signalling Manager for the signaller concerned.

Even if you take 7C23 off at Didcot East or push it to Steventon, 1C62 picks up at least 10 mins delay.

This happens frequently on Simsig, depending on the delays and failures settings. When a fast and a slow train are scheduled to enter within minutes of each other, they often become swapped due to one of them being 3 minutes late or something like that.

Was thinking about this (while navigating Sainsbury's!) the scenario presumably has B&H diversions for overnight engineering work, with the Mendip stone traffic via Swindon and Melksham. I certainly recall for normal B&H working it was not unusual for these trains to be routed to the DM from Kennett or even Twyford West to avoid crossing over at Reading Station West. So presumably in the sim if 7C23 is spawned as a DM train at Reading (per the WTT) it will run DM.

If the train is timetabled to enter right before 1C62, you could report it to the timetable's author in the timetable's forum thread if there is any. Presumably a diverted train would not need to go to the main line before Reading.

In the "real" world, if running via Swindon then yes, 7C23 would in all likelihood be retimed to stay on the Relief Line at Twyford West and Kennett.

And although I can't speak for the bobbies at Reading (it was a box I never 'visited'), in my day they'd most likely have kept it on the Relief whether timetabled or not if it was being diverted.
