SimSig & 4K Screen Question 13/09/2020 at 20:29 #131511

I've recently upgraded my PC screen from a 23" Full HD to a 27" 4K monitor using HDMI.
Screen is: iiyama 27" 4K Ultra HD IPS Monitor
GPU Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB [Latest Drivers Installed]

When running SimSig in 4K full resoultion is very blurry with the text. Is there a plan for SimSig been 4K compatible with screens or is there options I need to do for it to become clear on the screen. Apart from that 4K is a lot better overall viewing busy panel areas.

Only going on discussions that I've been passive in. Whats your DPI scaling set at for Windows, 100%, 125, 150, 175, 200, etc?

Based on what I've seen, unless its say 100%, 200% etc, then the way Windows handles scaling will make it blurry.

According to the DPI Scaling its set at 150% Recommended. If I set it to 100% is too small and 200% too big I can't win.

I don't know if its possible to change DPI settings for one program.

By default, my old laptop, with Full HD screen for some reason had default DPI set to something like 125%. That was very blurry on everything (SimSig aside for this). At a pure guess here, I suspect that Windows is trying to estimate based on surrounding pixels, what would be in that pixel.

I can only suggest that you try and use one for the other, and yes, I accept that neither is ideal.

It's little to do with SimSig; more to do with your Windows settings and hardware. I have a 4k monitor and if I set to 150% scaling then it's definitely not blurred.

Right click on the exe, go to Properties, click Compatibility, try High DPI settings. You might need to play with a few different combinations to get it looking okay on your system.
