Hullo all,

I have just tried to upgrade to version 5, but when starting SimSig to carry out the upgrade I get a "Failed to upgrade (error 2 - no respnonse from server) message.

Having looked at a similar thread it seemed to be an error with the Firewall, but have tried all sorts (including temporarily turning it off) and nothing works.

I'm running Windows 7 and Avast Firewall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I assume your loader is still version 4.something.

If that's the case just download the system files again, install them, then see if that frees things up for you.

I have done this 4 times now (including after reading your post), and each time it installs it auto-launches SimSig, but each time comes up with the error. Upon clicking cancel to "abort the upgrade" it opens up the main menu, which suggests it's version 5.6, but I cannot log in and it states "Could not communicate with server"...

In which case either your Anti-Virus or Firewall is block the connection to the SimSig server.
