Purchase a sim for someone as a Christmas present 09/12/2020 at 15:47 #134502

I have just read a post from 2015 that says if someone bought a sim as a present it could be re-assigned to the recipient by Geoff.

As my brain is not functioning correctly today, I'm having to ask what some people might think has an obvious answer. Sorry about that, but here goes:

Would the purchaser have to install SimSig in order to do this because presumably they would have to assign it to their computer in order that it could be re-assigned to mine?

No impertinent/insolent answers please.

No in short. They simply purchase the license on there account (Or create an account to make the purchase) then go to this page https://www.SimSig.co.uk/License/MyLicenses (Found under the my account page) any license that is eligible to be donated to another user has the appropriate "donate" button next to it. They follow the process and the license is transferred.

Sorry again, but my brain still isn't functioning properly. You say that any license that is eligible to be donated to another user......
My daughter hasn't got an account, is not another user and isn't likely to be.

So in that case it looks like I would have to make the purchase myself?

Licenses are not eligible for donation if you have already used them (or allocated to your computer before V5.)

I see some confusion here between creating an account and installing SimSig on your computer, as the original question was about the latter.

As I read it you do need to create an account to access the shop and the My Licenses page, but you don't need to install the loader.

No, she would just need to create an account to make the purchase and donate the license to you.

Other option is to buy one on your own account with your daughter sat next to you as you do it and then use her PayPal account to complete the transaction.

I will get in touch with her as it would appear that there are 3 options. 1) A PayPal gift card; 2) she could sit next to me and pay via PayPal (or a credit/debit card as I do) or 3) open an account, which is the least likely I think.

Thank you all for your help. Much appreciated

Why not just give her your login details.
She can login and purchases a sim.

It's all academic now as she will be coming down just before Christmas and will make the payment when I go through the buying process
