Whilst playing the 1991 timetable I have had quite a few instances where certain Bunkers at Gascoigne Wood are double booked and I have had to edit the timetable to re-route a second train to a different Bunker.

The timetable notes state that MGR trains can only be loaded/unloaded on bunker lines 1, 4 and 7. What is the reason for this? And does it matter if I use a different line because I have been re-routing some trains into Bunker lines 3 and 5 as, to be honest, I’ve not paid attention to the individual timetables. This inattention to TTs seems to be a habit which I’m finding difficult to remedy :\

Perhaps I should slow the sims down a bit and take more time to study the timetables so that eventually it becomes second nature.

MGR hopper wagons unload by opening the bottom doors, so the load discharges into a chute placed between the rails and leads to a conveyor belt under the track. Similarly, for loading a chute is mounted above the track, synchronised with the passage of wagons, and fed by an overhead conveyor belt. At Gascoigne Wood, these chutes are installed (see the boxes marked CB and SB) at specific points on roads 1, 4, and 7 only. The other roads are for shunting purposes, principally to slowly push the train past the chute without interfering with other trains (whether in the same yard or not), and to run-round the loco for the return journey.

The most realistic implementation of MGR loading & unloading would be to specify a "next working" to a train with a 3mph maximum speed, which performs only the load/unload push move. Once that is complete, a "next working" to a normal freight train would be appropriate.

Nowadays in SimSig, this can be done without "next working", by using the "category change" option at a location. This can change the train category to one with a maximum speed of 3mph, and then change back at the exit location.

They aren't double booked, you've said the timetable wasn't followed. The loading/unloading at bunkers and power stations was carefully planned with trains having specific slots. If they miss these slots, they'll often get rejected and have to run at a later date or time where there's space.

Hopefully Pascal can answer comprehensively, as different bunkers might feed different blends or qualities, but I think you're OK to use any other than the stone bunker, which was for Shale removal to welbeck bunker near Normanton.

Fair enough. In the case of the 1991 TT, I think some judicious use of "runs only X% of the time" might also potentially be more realistic.

That isn't quite correct. MGR trains load & unload with the loco set in slow speed position 1 which equates to 0.5mph. However one of the major upgrades to my York north/south 1991 TT is for all the trains in that TT which go in & out of Gascoigne Wood Colliery to be deleted & re-done as whats currently shown isn't quite correct on how they operate at Gascoigne Wood Colliery aka Selby New Mine. Locos aren't allowed inside the loading bunkers otherwise they get there roof removed as there is no clearance inside the loading bunkers at Gascoigne Wood for locos to pasds through them. The stone discharge bit is different as they can go through that part. Trains would go in & stable on a line which doesn't lead to a loading bunker. The Loco would RR at Hagg Lane & return to re-join its train. The train would then move forward onto a loading line & then set back at 0.5mph[slow spped setting 1] until the loco stops before the loading gantries. The train would then go forward at 0.5mph for the wagons to be topped up before departing to a power station for discharge. Due to the limitations of SimSig over the Xmas period I'm going to completely update the data in the York north/south & West Yorkshire 1991 TTs in readiness to start work on the Doncaster North 1991 TT which will chain to both sims. The trains in the York north/south TT will be set at 1mph whilst the train is underload as I don't think setting the speed to 0.5 will work unless someone knows different.

Further to the above there will be some additional MGR trains added to both the West Yorkshire & York north/south TTs which I have recently acquired. In view of the changes being made both TTs won';t be the same as they currently are now when re-released in the new year.

The timetable was written using a coal plan for a specific week, as was west Yorkshire, hence all trains are as planned/booked to run for that given week.

Not quite 100% correct Joe. West Yorkshire 1991 TT was, but not York north/south TT. Hence the reason all the trains on Gascoigne Wood panel that go in & out of the colliery need re-doing to match the MGR coal plan used for West Yorkshire 1991 TT. At the moment they don't match up.
